Counting arm swings as steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm a welder who works inside a giant pipe all day. My fitbit is registering my arm movement every time I swing my hammer. I am in the same spot for 3 to 4 hours at a time. Is there a way to adjust this? I've tried swapping wrists. While the step count is definitely impressive there is absolutely no way I'm walking that much

Any wrist-worn tracker detects steps by the normal swinging of the arm as when walking.  It cannot actually know what your legs are doing.

You could try putting the tracker in a pocket or somehow fastened to clothing and probably get better step count, but lose the heart rate data during that time.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
