Difference between heart rate monitoring technology between Versa and other fitbits?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I currently have a Fitbit Blaze which I really like - basically, it does almost everything I want it to do. Now that the Ionic and Versa have come out, I’m considering upgrading, however, I’m not sure if I want to spend the money if the actual hardware isn’t any different than the Blaze I currently have. I know they are all optical heart rate monitors, but is there any difference in the actual accuracy between the Blaze, the Ionic, or the Versa, when it comes to heart rate tracking? I’ve noticed that the Blaze isn’t very accurate during weight-lifting workouts, but it’s fairly accurate during runs and at rest.

Thank you in advance!

Hello @Champ87

I'm using the Versa now and really enjoying it.

Have a read about it and all the things it can do.

I used to use a iconic.

I come from a Charge2 and as many others here the Versa and so the Ionic are still "under construction". There are a lot of issues which are not addressed since more than 2 month where the last update came out. Also there is a new sensor group in the Versa.
Versa is much too sensitive to bumps (not auto recognicing cycling) and counting steps on various situations which are wrong (charging, in the car, during cycling,...) and the heartrate readings are too high very often.

I find the heart rate measurement more accurate on both the Ionic and the Versa than on the Alta HR (I have never had a blaze) the Alta HR measured HR well except under heavy exercise, where my Ionic and my Versa both seem to cope very well whatever I am doing. I dont do weights though, so it is not a full answer to you.

@NellyG: I understand your optimism, but it must be more fact based. And the facts speak for Charge2 (Alta and its relatives 😉 may be different, because it is so small and does not sit as solid as the larger products).
Of course I hope that the firmware will be improved. On the other hand we did not see any firmware improvements on e.g. higher heart rate readings or wrong step counts since many month !

I could post many more examples than posted already because I wear Charge2 and Versa simultaneous since nearly one month !

Sorry, but for the moment I feel quite disappointed and if there is no firmware update (within the next weeks) will return my Versa !

@5ggggg if you wear both the Charge 2 and versa at the same time. you need to have them on separate accounts.

If they are on the same account, the server will look at both tracker a and take an calculated guess at what the step count should be.
