Differences in distances with my running partner

Hello!

I have a fitbit Versa 2 and my friend has an Ionic. Both watches are brand new but when we run we get very different distances, even though we are running the same distance/route together. At times, I am a full kilometre greater distance than her. Any suggestions?

With the Ionic, she is probably using the built-in GPS.  Are you connecting to your phone's GPS?  If not, it probably means your stride length is set too short.

See How does my Fitbit device calculate distance traveled?

and Can I change my stride length in my Fitbit account?

People usually don't take into account that distance is calculated totally differently, depending on whether or not GPS is used, and without specifying that, it's impossible to make judgements of accuracy of distance.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
