Disappointing that Music Controls no longer able to control Spotify music on phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Before I updated my Versa, I could listen to Spotify on my phone and if I wanted to change song or volume I was able to simply hold the left button and the general music controls would come up and I could quickly control the music. Now with the new update, music controls no longer can control spotify. I confirmed this after trying to get support with Fitbit. You can only control Spotify music on the Spotify App. But by the time it takes to open the app, eventually connect to the phone after a bunch of glitchy bluetooth issues, you could have just gone and found your phone to adjust music. It has completely removed the convenience of having the watch control music.

This is so disappointing because it used to work flawlessly and was so quick and easy. The Spotify app can't even control volume. Just song choices. Please allow the Music Controls to control Spotify again! This is a big part of why I got this "smart watch" to make things convenient.

Totally agree.

I was put through to one of their help team, then another one who came back with completely the wrong answer to the question. They advised me to use the Spotify app which is completely missing or avoiding why the functionality has disappeared. I've had the case open for a week and had nothing further back from them.

I've only had a FitBit for 4 months and already begin to think "what's the point" of saying stuff doesn't work when they just trot out scripted answers

I only come on here to get help and advise from real users and share the pain.

Same problem here, too.  Did some googling and found that you can get it back through a complicated and barely reliable series of steps... and then 36 hours later it doesn't work again.

And this not just for Spotify - this for any music control at all.  The Versa can receive notifications, but then when it's time to control music it thinks "no phone is connected."

This is especially maddening because I used to have a Pebble 2 which JUST. WORKED. ALL. THE. TIME.  It literally never lost connection (without provocation), and always responded to correct input.  For years.  Until I wore the buttons out.

Fitbit bought Pebble, shut it down, and apparently learned next to nothing from their technology.

A glitzy, frotzy, error-ridden lump on my wrist is worse than a wind-up pocket watch.  It's a drain on my life instead of a boon.  And I don't even know why I'm posting this here, since I've pretty much given up hope fitbit will ever get it right.

I cannot believe what this firmware did.

Music controls (for all apps on the phone that could play something.. even youtube when casting) were in the top 2 features of the fitbit versa I use. Payments was the other one. Both were present in the left screen - one left button push away.

Music controls don't work now - cannot connect to that versa (classic) thing. And that when I open them from the top menu of the top menu :))))) hilarious

@Fitbit WTF ???????? Does anybody that work there even care about the user experience ?

PS: who was the genius that thought a double top menu is a thing these days ???

PS: installing versa for the first time was a blast also - 5 hours of sweaty forum reading

PS: I should stop whining and look for an alternative

I stand corrected. Succeeded in connecting to versa classic, music controls are now working (almost)

on the watch go to settings > scroll down > there is a bluetooth menu item (or was it called restore music controls?) .. click there until the state says "pair" ... Then on the phone pair with versa classic that appears.

problems:

1. music controls just have a play button. no pause. they dumb

2. tried to put these music controls on the right bottom button but (from the manual): "Bottom button–opens the app located in the bottom left of the first app screen. Customize Versa by reordering your apps. For more information, see "Organize apps" on page 26."

then reordered the apps so the "Music" app was in the "right" corner (actually left, but.. get it ? :))). little did I know that the Music app does something else.. Music app is not Music Controls

:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I feel like playing a board game or something

PS: sorry about ranting, I am a lonely lonely man
