Why do I have to sync everyday to get my message/calls?

You don't have to sync, but you need a permanent bluetooth connection to your phone if you want notifications. Enabling them in the app establishes that connection.

Thanks, I do keep Bluetooth on always and sync is set to always sync.

Welcome to the Forums @T-Boo and @SunsetRunner thanks for stopping by.

 

As our friend told you, there is no need to sync your watch everyday in order to receive notifications, you just need to have your phone's Bluetooth on and have your phone near. If you are having issues with your notifications, I recommend taking a look at the help article My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone and follow the instructions provide there.
