I am wondering whether to buy the Fitbit Versa special edition with the GPS and would like to know that if I went running, would I have to take my phone with me to track my route? Thanks

Special edition doesn't have GPS, it has Fitbit pay, which the base version doesn't have. Either Versa version you buy, you'd need your phone for connected GPS.

Welcome to the Community @Kep_me and @MarkMM thanks for the stopping by.
I just wanted to let you know that I have moved your post from the Blaze board to the Versa board, since I think that here you will be able to find more related about this unit.
Now about your inquiry, I agree with our friend, Fitbit Versa doesn't have built in GPS. So, yes, you need to take your phone with you if you want to see your running route. For more information about this, you can check the help article Does my Fitbit device have GPS?.
See you later. ![]()
