Hi Everyone. I got my first fitbit (the versa) and I have a couple of simple questions. I have it all configured and its running perfectly fine however if I am not using it for GPS purposes do I still need to keep the location services on? Also If I turn off the location services will it still function normally? Thank you very much.

Hi, @avidboy01! You need location to sync, too, so I'm not sure all-day sync will work all that well without it, but unless you're syncing or using GPS, you shouldn't need it. Enjoy your new tracker!

Hey @avidboy01, let me give you a warm welcome to the Community! Google changed its permission requirements beginning with Android OS 6.0 (Marshmallow). As a result the locations permission is necessary to sync your tracker with your Android device.
Rest assured, Fitbit does not track your location unless you are recording an exercise or activity with GPS.
If the Fitbit app prompted you to turn on location services and you denied the request, you have an extra step after turning on location services. To tell the Fitbit app that it has permission to access locations, go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit > Permissions (the exact path may vary depending on mobile device).
For further information, you can take a look at this help article: Why is the Fitbit app prompting me to turn on location services?
Thanks for your help @MakMak!
