Does Versa 2 track steps the same as Inspire HR?

I am new to the Versa and I have to say so far it’s not making a great impression. I’ve noticed that if I stand in one plan but happen to move my arm it tracks steps. However if I happen to be walking and bring the watch up to look at the time/steps it doesn’t track any steps at all. 

Please tell me this Smart WATCH still works to count steps even if you are holding your wrist up to look at the screen?

i never had this problem with my Inspire and also would have to be actually walking or walking in place to get it to track steps. Just swinging my arms would not count as steps.

Mine does, both trackers look at arm motions to determine what the feet are doing.
