Does Versa 2 work with tattoos

I know this product is very new, but I'm looking to see if the new versa 2 works with people having tattoos? I bought the original Versa several months ago trying to upgrade from my charge 2. Unfortunately the versa couldn't read my heartbeat because I have a tattoo on my wrist. My charge works just fine and has never has issues w reading anything due to my tattoo. I just really want to know before I buy it and be completely let down like I was with the original versa.

Hello @Taylor56 and a warm welcome.  The LED source is in exactly the same place on the Versa 2 as it is on the Versa.  If I posted a picture of the underside of both units side by side, you could not tell them apart.  You will have exactly the same issue with a Versa 2.

I think your Charge 2 was able to pick up your heart rate because the LED source looks like it is more than twice the size of the Versa/Versa 2.  The technology works by shining the light and it is reflected back to the sensors.  It looks for blood flow in the the top layers of the skin.  I suspect there is just too much ink in the area where the light shines.

I wasted my money on the versa 2 as it’s doesn’t read my heart rate as well.

as compared to a much cheaper inspire hr that I was using earlier ... can’t believe that I actually paid much more to upgrade to this crap piece of watch and the sensors are actually more **ahem**ed up. And e after time seeking advice from Fitbit customer service. All I gotten was they not admitting that tattooed wrist is an issue. But instead sending me a community thread that other are also complaining in regards to tattooed wrist not being able to detract. And yes expecting me to do stupid thing to the watch just so that it can read, and I mean by sticking an epoxy sticking on the sensor on the watch. Yes it works sometimes. But be reminded that each time you wanna charge the watch you Gotta remove the sticker. And yup, paid this much almost a $259plus watch in Singapore just so I can stick a sticker to the sensor just to get it to work.

I just got my Versa 2 and was super stoked... Turns out the tattoo issue is real.  Deal breaker for me.  Super disappointed... Is there a current Fitbit with notifications that works with heavy tattoos?

Try clear epoxy stickers from hobby lobby. I had same issue. I added a epoxy sticker to the back of my versa 2 and have been getting heart rate and sleep info ever since. Neither worked before adding sticker. $1.50 quick fix
