Does starting a workout on versa count as manual or automatic log?

I am currently using an Alta HR and depend on smart track to log my exercise for an insurance fitness program that I am in. However not all my exercise are recognised by smart track so I usually manual log in my exercise when smart track failed to log. Despite that the fitness program when syncing to Fitbit does not recognise exercise that I have manually logged even when I meet all their criteria in terms of heartbeat and exercise time.

I am thinking of upgrading to versa so that I can start the workout from the watch but i wonder would the work out be recognise as a manual or automatic log?

It would be added as a automatic log after ending the workout session

I really would no call it automatic. You have up to 7 shortcuts. And when listed on the phone you choose the one you want. Start it with the holding in the button. When done hold in the button when done. This  will log to the dashboard when synced.

I would add workout mode as one of the 7  as if the activity is not listed it will load as workout and you can rename after it syncs
