I read a while back that the Classic or Standard edition in Canada would have the NFC chip. After a long chat with tech support at FitBit yesterday, they finally confirmed that the Canadian Classic does have the chip, but I'd like that confirmed by a real Canadian user. I realize that only RBC is on the list but I have faith the others will come soon. I don't want the linked band and like the black frame with black sport band and don't want to wait nor pay extra if it isn't necessary. Thanks!

@WWayne I received my classic edition silver fitbit versa yesterday and unfortunately what you heard from fitbit is wrong. The classic edition does not have NFC/Fitbit pay. Even says so in the paper receipt that came with the boxed watch. Hope that helps.

Thanks Stollalong, I suspect the original plan was for the Canadian editions to be the same as the European ones which supposedly have NFC in the Classic edition (also mentioned by the FitBit support rep that said Canadian ones were the same as European ones). I had read about 6-8 weeks ago in a review as well as on the Canadian FitBit site that it would be standard on all editions. Now the site says NFC is only on the special edition ones. Not necessarily a deal breaker.
