Does the FitOn app display your calories and heart rate on screen?

Hi there,

I've had the Versa 3 a matter of days. I've got both the Fitbit and FitOn app on my phone, and have installed the FitOn app on to my watch. I thought that once linked, the Versa 3 would 'communicate' my heart rate and calories burnt to the FitOn app and I would be able to see them on the screen as I work out, but it doesn't at all. The Versa won't even connect to the internet while using the FitOn app on the watch, so I'm not sure whether I've got the wrong idea, or if I have a bug and my watch isn't working correctly by not connecting to wifi when using the FitOn app.

Can somone set me straight please? I've been looking for an answer, but can't find anything other than troubleshooting internet connection (and that the wireless only works when charging - what's the point of that?!).

Many thanks!

Hi @bluedharma  - have you tried simply getting a clock face from the Fitbit Gallery that gives you the information you want directly on the watch?

I think the point of the two apps being linked, is that the heart rate and calories burnt are meant to show on the TV screen. I paid for FitOn, thinking it would work once subscribed, but it doesn't.

I could just use Fitbit to monitor my exercise otherwise, but I wanted to store info in the FitOn app. It makes paying for the FitOn app less value if it's not doing what it's saying it does. I was trying to find out if other people had had the same experience or whether I was missing something. The guidance is that the Versa 3 is compatible...

I'm having the same problem with FitOn and my Fitbit Sense. Fitbit settings on my sense say 'WiFi Off', which it isn't as everything else is working g that needs WiFi.  When  I go to WiFi settings on app ots showing my WiFi,  but its greyed out. I enter password, it connects momentarily then goes grey again 🤷🏼‍:female_sign:. Did you resolve it? Thanks.

Hi @68jellybean  -  you don't need wifi for syncing your watch with the Fitbit App. It uses Bluetooth, so you may find solutions for syncing here

Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

No, I didn't. What you're experiencing with the greyed out wifi icon is exactly what I get.

I think it doesn't work due to the fact the wifi on the Fitbit Versa only seems to work upon syncing. I found at least this much information from looking through community posts. So, for instance, my calendar items upload into my watch upon syncing; none of it is 'live'. You can't turn it on and off when needed. It's a bit rubbish really, and not what's been sold by FitOn/Fitbit. At least I only paid the discount rate for the year and not the full rate! I won't subscribe again seeing as most of the benefit I get from FitOn I don't have to pay for.

I'm just using Fitbit for all my exercise data and using FitOn to keep track of my sessions. That's working out OK. I've even started using Fitbit for weight and food tracking, because I want to minimise the range of apps I'm using!

Thanks for your input, but I think there's crossed wires here. This is a very FitOn/wifi specific query and not to do with the Fitbit device syncing with the Fitbit app.

I admire and appreciate your energy and time spent to help others though. Thanks 🙂

@bluedharma  -  thanks, it's good to get things working as they should.

Just to clarify the watch only needs/uses wifi normally for a few specific things, such as initial firmware Setup, and that only works if you have 25% battery or more. The rest of the time it is not used, primarily as it has heavy battery usage.

For ALL normal activity the communication between the watch and the Fitbit App is done via Bluetooth, be it connecting or syncing.

For the FitOn situation did you see this post which may be of help Is FitOn app is compatible with Fitbit devices?

Thank you. I paid fit FitOn too as it was such a good rate and I use it
loads, but disappointed my heart rate never shows on screen.

I'll just use Fitbit to log exercises...but that doesn't have HIIT in the
exercise options! Will use it more for logging weight etc. Like you say,
less apps to deal with.

You'd think in this day and age these kind of things would work much
easier, rather than us pulling our hair out trying to find solutions.

Good luck with it all.
