Does tracking a walk on the run exercise on versa affect step count?

On Monday I did a walk but tracked it using the run exercise on my versa. I then did 2 gym classes, did a lot of steps which I thought was probably right. However yesterday I logged 12954 steps and today I'd logged over 12000 and all I had done was grabbed a few groceries and done some housework. Would logging a run impacted the way my versa counts my steps? The only other thing I've done is download deezer and add play lists to my versa.

Prior to Monday it seemed to track fine.

I've tried restating.

So far no replies but my step count went up to almost 16000,

I deleted the run from my exercises, manually measured and changed stride length, changed to dominant hand, added walk to my exercise list (didn't realise you could swipe and change them!). restarted phone and app several times. nothing changed.

i have tried factory reset, it got stuck on a screen with a red cross and circle and said something along the lines of data erased fail - please sync and try again. I tried and then it wouldn't sync.

I then searched forums and did as suggested, remove versa from the app, deleted it from bluetooth and still nothing. i tried maybe 10 times. I came home and put on charge and then it synced, then said reset failed, please try again. finally after several hours it reset, and my step count decreased to around 5600 steps, possibly more accurate as i did go for a walk with kids  early this afternoon (tracked as a walk about 2000 steps). However I've just got up walked around 30 steps to my bed and its counted as 96 steps. So maybe its still an issue.

I'm really frustrated . My blaze would not sync to my phone when i upgraded it to a samsung 8 back in january (did contact customer support - got no resolution) so i stopped using it and hubby brought me the versa for my birthday thinking it would be amazing.

please tell me there is an easy fix.

@kd1699 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! Logging an activity shouldn't affect the steps count but I think it is the other activities that might have affected the step count for the second day. Your Versa will use its accelerometer to detect movement and will translate said movement to steps. There are activities that will require you to move your hands but won't be necessarily walking but still will count steps. Things like clapping, playing the drums or burping a baby may cause this. If you were mopping or sweeping the floor I can see how this may have counted as steps. Still you did something so i don't believe you should negate or be concerned about the steps tracked as they do reflect the level of activity for that day. If you wish to negate them then you can log a driving activity following these instructions.

Let me know how it goes!
