Editing sleep start/end times recalculated sleep stages

Often my Fitbit thinks I am asleep when I am not (e.g. when I am in bed resting but still awake)

When I edit the start/end times of my sleep the next day the app completely recalculates my sleep stages so they don’t even resemble the original.

For example last night I edited my start time, so according to the original chart I should have gone down 15 minutes of light sleep. The app recalculated my sleep so I ended up with completely different figures, including my deep sleep being reduced by 25 minutes. To see what would happen I extended my sleep time by a few minutes, and my deep sleep jumped from 50 minutes to 2 hours 5 - almost an hour more than the original!

This makes me think that there is no real science behind the sleep stages if they change so drastically when in my view only the light sleep should be changing

@Wcle799 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! Sorry to hear that your sleep stages are being changed when you edit your sleep logs. Your device will start recording sleep after it detects an hour of inactivity. If you have a light sleep or move too much then this may difficult your sleep detection and the opposite can affect too. When you don't move too much and are resting the tracker may believe you are sleeping when you aren't. Try moving your hands from time to time, additionally you can try wearing your device on your dominant hand to increase the amount of movement it is subjected to. Finally you can restart your device. You can also manually log your sleep time. Regarding the calculations this is done with the data your tracker detected (the movement it recorded) and algorithms on the Fitbit servers. This is constantly being improve upon with more data from users but I do appreciate your feedback as this helps us better these features for all users.

Let me know how it goes!
