Elliptical exercise detected while I'm sleeping and NOT moving

Every night since I started wearing this Versa 2 fitbit watch it registers elliptical exercise while I'm sleeping. Some nights it registers that I'm doing cardio while sleeping. One morning I awoke to being congradulated for 10,000 steps and I hadn't even put 1 foot on the floor yet!

What is really going on here?? Am I really burning calories and fat in my sleep? Because I'm not a person who needs to lose weight. This would explain why I have such a hard time gaining weight but I really can't believe I'm burning calories and fat while I'm asleep.

It seems to me there is a major flaw in the fitbit watch if its registering elliptical excercising in my sleep with a heart rate of 60 bpm...!!!

What in the world is happening here? Why is it tracking exercises I'm not doing? And why in the world is it tracking elliptical  excercising in my sleep? When I'm laying down and not moving??

I really need some answers here please...

Not real answers but possibly ways to prevent it:

If you have MobileTrack set up as a device, it seems that corresponds to people getting huge number of steps added in short time.  Removing MobileTrack might help.

As for Elliptical, on phone app, tap the 'days of exercise' tile, then the gear icon near top right.  This will show the 7 types of exercise your fitbit might auto-recognize from your wrist pattern of motion.  One of these is Elliptical.  Apparently it thinks it recognized your wrist motion while sleeping as doing an elliptical machine.  You can prevent it ever auto-recognizing an elliptical exercise by tapping 'Elliptical', then moving the auto-recognize slider to the right, and tapping 'Save'.  You could also do the same thing for the other 6 if you wanted to, or just for any of those activities you know you will never do.

Thank you Johnny! Also, do you know if the Versa 2 (which is what I have) tracks body temperature? If so, how do I track my body temperature?

Yes, but it is not your internal body temperature.  It just tracks your skin temperature overnight when asleep, which really isn't particularly meaningful.  There are 2 places you can see it on phone app, and I'm not sure if either of these require Premium.  It is one of the measurements in 'Health Metrics', and also in a separate Temperature tile, but I myself don't pay much attention to it.  There is also a place where you can log and plot it your core internal temperature, but that is only for if you measure it yourself and want a place to keep track of it.
