Erratic heart rate when spinning-Versa 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

As soon as i start a spin class,  the heart rate jumps all over the place.

E. G.   My rate reads 60bpm on the watch before i start.   I then start the class and within 5 seconds it immediately jumps to 130bpm, and i havent even started peddling yet.

Now,  before you give me advice on where to wear it and how tight to wear it during a spin class...  Please dont.   I have read those suggestions a thousand times on a thousand different posts.

I wear a strap monitor,  and it is extremely accurate.   Im warming up and the strap shows 80bpm, and the watch shows 140bpm.

It's very frustrating,  as i find myself stopping the class and spending 10mins loosening the strap,  moving it further up the wrist,  then tightening etc etc.   It's driving me mad.

Is this a fault with the versa 2?  Is it just not good at measuring spin classes?   I dont use it for any other excercise,  so cannot compare it to say running or swimming.

What is the solution?

I also wear a chest strap monitor and versa 2 during workouts.  I usually do a 40 min Hiit workout!  I have had the same exact experience!  It drives me crazy and the HR and calorie count are way off from my chest strap monitor.  Usually FitBit has much lower HR and calorie count then my chest strap monitor.  I have also read the articles concerning the correct position and tightness of the band.  It drives me crazy, and I have considered purchasing a different brand of tracker!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @antsy.

Thank you for the time you spent trying to resolve the issue with your Fitbit Versa 2.

At times, you might notice slight variations between your heart-rate reading on your Fitbit device versus on another device (such as a chest strap or another wrist-based heart-rate tracker) due to the differences in technologies.

Differences between heart-rate readings on your device and on exercise equipment are likely due to wrist or hand position. Make sure the back of your device is in contact with your wrist and that your band is snug.
