Extra steps; I swim + walk

My wife has an Alta and she thinks I am getting more steps with my Versa when I swim, however according to the Fitbit doc on the Versa that is not true. So except for the adding steps when charging, are there any others who get extra steps from some other reason?

 

Where would I go to trouble shoot this issue?  Could the auto stride length be a problem?

Hi @JRW I find I get steps when swimming, which mostly likely happens prior to it auto recognizing that I'm swimming. Are you selecting swimming or letting your tracker recognize the exercise type?

I am selecting swimming with the swim app. This morning I walked to the swimming pool (I'm on vacation) i wrote down my steps 500. Selected the swimming app and swam for 102 pool lengths when I finished and close the app my step count was 1780.
