Feedback about accurate count with Steps and HR readings

The same issues I had with my blaze that i returned two years ago is happening again with my new Versa. The steps are way off. I’ve set it to dominant and put it on non-dominant wrist. I’ve set stride length. It adds 20 or more steps while putting on my pants. It adds 100 or more steps just driving for 30-50 minutes on a smooth interstate or highway. It adds steps making lunch, and with any arm movement. The same happens with my son’s Charge 2 but he doesn’t care, he’s 11.

The heart rate always jumps to the 90s if I simply start walking or moving though I can check manually at the time and note it is actually in the 60s or 70s. Eventually the Fitbit returns to the 60s.

Are there any real fixes to these issues or does the only way to appreciate the Fitbit require acceptance of a wildly inaccurate thing that doesn’t really do what it says. I can’t believe people are willing to accept such inaccuracy.

Hi there @Otis11, awesome to have you here in the Fitbit Community, welcome aboard! Thank you for your feedback regarding the accuracy of the Fitbit Versa.

I was reading your post and some of the actions you are doing it might be a normal behavior. Note that your watch in its basic form is movement sensor. So, with doing certain activities that involve arm movement it might be possible you get some steps as a result.

With driving is the same case, due to the vibrations of the car or if the road is a bit bumpy, your tracker might translate this movement as exercise data, like steps. We have in place a driving activity to remove step count if the resulting steps of this are too high. For more details, refer to this article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?

Now with heart rate, is a different scenario, if your heart rate is showing high peaks at the start of an exercise in some cases we can confirm this is an issue, which is already under review to have a fix in the future. Nonetheless is worth to try the following help section if the heart rate is jumping from high readings with regular usage:

Hope this helps and thank you for your feedback.
