Feedback on the Versa

Hello all, I just wanted to share my feedback on the Versa. My wife and I each got one, and we really like them overall. The battery life is fantastic, which was the biggest thing keeping me out of the smartwatch world. There are some issues that remain though, and a few are fairly significant.

Here's the running list I've been keeping:

  • Need a filter in the watch face store for free versus paid apps.
  • When you swipe up from home, get rid of where it briefly says "today." The date is on the next screen, and the delay is sort of annoying.
  • When you go into settings on an exercise and customize stats (choose top/middle/bottom metrics), this setting should remain as you've designated. On our Versa, it reverts back to the default every time. I actually called Fitbit support about this one, and the guy told me this was by design. If true, that is not an intuitive design choice, and should be changed.
  • Still no official support for the Google Pixel 2. Pixel 3 will be out in another four months or so, and this is a flagship...what's the hold up?
  • GPS only connects for a run about 50% of the time. Just says "connecting..." for the entire run sometimes.

Like I said, overall the Versa is pretty cool. But some of these are fairly major, so I hope they will be addressed at some point. I did contact Fitbit telephone support about a few of these items, and unfortunately they were little help in terms of receiving recommendations or suggestions. Hopefully, this forum has more traction for getting Fitbit attention.

I agree. I overall love my Versa. This is my second replacement one is it is so far running much more smoothly than my first one. And the only major issue that I have with it so far is the connected gps. Mine is constantly “connecting”. Now if that was fixed and I got gps every time I walked, I’ll be very satisfied with the Versa.

What sort of smartphone are you using, Jayelo? I just assumed I was having connection issues because my Pixel 2 isn't on the official support list yet. But, I wonder if it's actually an independent problem that others have even on supported phones.

I have a s7 edge. I wanna say even before I had my versa I had my flex 2 and would use the gps on the Fitbit app and still not get an accurate reading. So I’m not sure if it’s actually the versa or phone or phone service.

NEVER BUY FITBIT **ahem**S!!! NEVER

Like I stated before, I like my Fitbit. I haven’t had any major problems with it so far but what I really am disappointed with Fitbit is their customer service. I already had to deal with them once when my first versa died and they were not really helpful at all. Good thing Best Buy helped me out with less hassles and better customer service. Then the other day my daughters phone watch died from Verizon. Thought Verizon was going to give me a hard time like Fitbit but they didn’t. They just asked what’s wrong with it, arranged to have another one sent to us in 2 days and when we receive the replacement we send in the broken one ( they cover shipping). Now, why can’t fitbit treat their customers like that? I was so appreciative of Verizon because it was so simple and fast. None of these running around in circles, giving us excuses, trying to do useless trouble shooting, them giving advice on products they are not familiar with, and the lengthy return process/shipping from Fitbit. Yes Fitbit, we bought your product. You got our money but if you cannot help your customers when we need help, we won’t be returning. Fitbit has a lot to learn on customer service and customer satisfaction.

I love the feel and look of my Versa.  However it is tracking almost double my steps sometimes and gives me a lot of steps while driving.   I have reset it and turned it off and back on with no luck.  I don't know where to go from here.

Got my Versa yesterday.  The special edition. Some minor hiccups performing the update but got around it by updating it via my laptop instead of the phone.  Running fine since then but it's early in the game so let's see how it goes.  Will be mindful of the errors in step count and see if that's an issue with mine.

Overall the watch is super comfortable and I barely notice it on. I knew I had my blaze on but that was still very comfortable.  So very happy so far.

Mine was horrible. I'm returning it. I spent 3 days just trying to install and update the stupid thing and it never completed. I specifically chose this b/c it was supposed to be easy. I don't want to wait three days or more before I can use a watch. I think Fitbit needed to do some more testing. This is crap. I want the watch to work so badly b/c I love the way it looks and it's features are exactly what I need for running but I don't have time to fuss with something so complicated. And before you ask yes I did everything that was suggested on all of these boards. So stupid. Guess I'll have to find something else to meet my needs. Maybe in a few years when Fitbit gets rid of all the bugs.

I believe that versa is the worst watch ever. I have seen so many people having troubles with their watches. I use mine for only for days and stop working. They should do something about it. They lie to me in couple of emails about their support. I attach a picture where you can see the water inside the watch. Fitbit = scam.watch.png

@Snajera So will fitbit be replacing yours? I find your reason valid since you’ve only had it for 6 days. Fitbit claims you can swim in it and it’s water resistant up to 50 meters. I mean, you even sent them a picture that there is water in your Versa.

@JayeloYour experience mirrors mine pretty well. I really like my Versa, and my wife likes hers. We just have a handful of things that we hope get fixed. I have to agree with you about Fitbit's customer service, too. The mods have been pretty friendly on this forum, but trying to call Fitbit for phone support is a waste of time.

@Dusty4356That's interesting that you get so many steps. I was actually concerned I was getting less than normal. But, I did the test they recommend (walking and literally counting your steps to 100), and it was accurate every time. If you tried the 100 step test, how far off was it on yours?

Sorry to hear about bad experiences like @bookgrl76 and @Snajera had...sounds like maybe you got lemons/faulty hardware. As I said, we've been pretty happy overall with ours - definitely a nice upgrade from the Charge 2. But maybe we got lucky in the hardware lottery.

My 100 step test was about 3 to 5 steps off each time.  But then when I actually walk it's all off.  I don't understand.  😞

Ibreally have learned to hate my versa. It is akward, bad at syncing, jnedlessly complicated and just all around annoying.

Getting rid of it and going another way

I give the Versa 6/10 right now. It is a not very smart watch.  I have had it for a month but have had constant issues with notifications not working, fixing them and them not working again. Sleep and step tracking are terribly inaccurate.  Also, if I run exercise mode in bike while biking, it tracks that well, but then also gives me steps at the same time.

The Good - battery life, size and weight, notification replies (when working)

The Bad - notifications, sleep tracking, step tracking, music transferring, exercise modes

I have almost given up on the Versa and gone back to my Gear Classic S2.  If the notification issues continues to be a problem, I might do that.  I will give it a couple more weeks.
