I finally managed to get my music on to my Versa - and all I was doing wrong was not creating a playlist in iTunes.
I think it's a bit misleading when the app asks you about folders which is why I got myself in a faff in the first instance - creating folders ion my desktop etc.
But when I created the playlist in iTunes, the app automatically found it and began syncing it. I have 57 tracks on it and it did take 25mins to sync, but at least they're there.
I am using a Mac and my music is stored on an external hard drive.
Hope this helps someone.

Yea for you! I had the same problem until I made a playlist just for my Versa. There were older playlists there but for some reason they wouldn't load. The other thing I discovered is that if my computer went to sleep, the transfer stopped until I woke it up again. No Wonder it took so long! I disabled all sleep until I was finished.
