My fitbit isn't counting all of my steps in general- it probably misses a few hundred a day (and yes I'm wearing it on my non dominant hand, etc) But the most disturbing is that it won't count most of my steps when I am shopping with a cart. I went to costco, walmart and target in one day, doing a huge day of supply gathering for home and work- like four hours and after all of it my fitbit said that I had 2500 steps. anyone who has been to Costco knows that is just wrong.

Your device counts steps based on the swing of your arm. You need to push the shopping car with one hand, or put your device in your pocket, or wear it on your ankle when you're at the grocery store.
I opt to push it with one hand or if I'm shopping with my husband, he pushes the cart.

I also put my device in my pocket, or if no pockets I put it in my bra.

That Bra trick has me laughing. You actually get a step count that way?

Someone should make an ankle strap to wear your fitbite when shopping.

I always thought it was supposed to be GPS based and not just the swing of an arm. That's disappointing.

That can't be right because when I walk I have my hands in my pocket and it tracks my steps. I believe it is the metal of the shopping cart

I have heard of people doing this, but I have also heard that it looks like you are wearing a law-enforcement ankle bracelet.
