Fitbit Counting Steps/Stairs while driving

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought a Fitbit Versa less then a week ago. Shortly after, I took a road trip and noticed that it counted 2,000 extra steps and 26 extra flights of stairs. After noticing the problem recurring I called FitBit for help. After not allowing me to return the product, their solution was to turn it off every time I drive somewhere. As someone who travels for work, this is extremely inconvenient. I have a friend with the same watch who does not have the same issue.

Hey @DaniMcMi, it is nice to see new faces around! Woman Happy This is an expected behavior form the wrist Fitbit devices, to count steps while you are driving, since the vibrations are recognized by them as steps. The same happens to me, my Versa registers a few steps when I;m driving, of course that the amount depends on the duration of the road, the path conditions (on bumpy roads it tends to track more extra steps) and the velocity.

On the other side, I want to thank you for taking the time to contact our Support team for further help, and I understand that this is maybe not the best solution, but is a workaround to avoid your Fitbit tracks extra steps that you are not actually walking.

In addition, I'd like you to review the following idea Add "Driving mode" feature to avoid erroneous steps/floorson our Feature Suggestions board. Leave your vote and comments, so our team can take it into consideration.

Let me know if you have further questions or comments!
