Fitbit Update 8/23/18:

Hey, everyone! Just wanted to thank you all for your participation in this thread.

Since the majority of Versa users have successfully updated to OS 2.1.1 (v32.32.10.15) I have decided to close this topic from further comments.

If you still have not updated your Versa to OS 2.1.1, check out this help article for how to update your device. Please complete this update so that you're prepared for the next release.

If you are experiencing an issue with your Versa unrelated to the firmware-up process, I invite you to start a new topic on the Community or find a related topic.

Fitbit Update 05/11/2018: We have released Fitbit OS 2.1 to 100% of Versa users (Firmware Version: 32.32.10.15).

Hi, everyone! Smiley Happy

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.1! (Firmware Version: 32.32.10.15)

We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT’S NEW

Introducing quick replies. Send customized responses to text messages and messages from select messaging apps with your Fitbit watch. Note that this feature is currently only available on watches paired to an Android phone. For more information, see How do I respond to messages with my Fitbit watch?

WHAT’S FIXED

This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.

I recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article

If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

This explains what the issue was for me...

I use Textra as my default app and this worked perfectly!  Got it working now

@spin41 - Apple doesnt allow third party to do messaging functions for now. Their stand is quite clear all along and people here understand it. Please do raise this request to Apple if you so badly want this feature - this forum is already quite badly cloaked with unconstructive messages.

On another note all together @AlessFitbit, there are currently 2 firmware versions floating around - ie version 15 and 20. Which firmware is the better one? There are people who factory resetted their watch from version 20 and eventually ended up with version 15 instead. It is so confusing. Think Fitbit need to officially address this point. Also whats Fitbit position on the Versa firmware currently. Any new firmware expected to be released soon? I notice the fitbit moderators besides providing links to troubleshooting guides here are silent about any firmware updates. Does Fitbit feels that the current firmware version is fine? Please do let us know. At least we can make informed decision whether to return or hang on to the versa.

I am just boiling in anger with their silence with all the issues people are bringing up. Accepted u can't answer everyone of them, but there are definitely some issues with the new firmware and Fitbit doesn't even acknowledge them. Just a post that they are aware of the issues and working on it will make us feel better. Or I feel that I wasted all the money on a digital watch not a smart watch.

@Criable FYI I did, to both companies, I think they should speak each other as they have more strength than single users complains. So If all iOS users said to fitbit we want same features as android they will have to do something, at least trying to get apple somehow. So seriously maybe the unconstructive message it's pointing you. Kind regards.

Sorry just saw your other replies. Seems like everyone has different issues. For me I was able to reply using the default app without textra. But the notifications are not consistent. They come one day and the next day they don't come again. I restart my mobile several times but still no notification. I guess they have issues with syncing with different mobiles. Wierd!

Hi Guys

I have decided to buy the Samsung Gear Sport!! Quite fancy, has all standard features, water proof, 4 day battery life and no issues with compatibility whatsoever with Oneplus 5. Thats what I have found out so far.

Let me know your take

Cheers

Think I’m going to get the gear sport, just saw that Costco is selling the gear sport for $199.99, that’s $30 less than the $70 reduction from Samsung. Best Buy selling it for $229.99.

@nan5775 ghost plays... if you are not going to use it you can turn it off in versa configuration options. Anyway you can contact support by chat (in help section) to ask them if it's a normal issue.

Let me know what they say!

i skipped setting wifi and now the notifications are working for me.

This may a stupid question but how do you get rid of the Wi-Fi. It doesn't seem like that's worked for me. I think I may be doing something wrong with the settings. I still don't get the reply option.
Best Answer
You should remove Versa from FitBit App and set up it again. Then just skip
Wi-Fi setting step.

I have the gear sport, my biggest issue with it is in the last update they changed the floor height from 8 feet to 10 feet so it doesn't accurately count floors in my opinion.  I'm not too keen on the S-health layout as I prefer fitbit however I had too many issues with my versa to justify coming back plus I am in love with the blue on my gear sport!

The store I went to only had the black so that is what I bought, and paid #199.99 at Costco. Really like it as I am getting emails, messages, phone calls all day. Would recommend this to everyone as I had returned me versa which couldn’t get anything after their update.
