We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

I sorry, I am not trying to be negative here, as one of fitbits customers and spending a lot of money to get the fitbit products, I have read and experienced some of these issues that other people have experienced, and for one of your solutions to be, track it manually, dose this not defeat the purpose for which we purchased this item - which is to have an automatic tracking device. I have read this comment several times by the moderators. And I do not think that is a valid solution, nor do I think you should be allowed to constantly say that to your customers. They did not spend a lot of money to manually enter everything. So please find the fixes for our products.

I was in fat burning mode all night while i slept and it was on the other side of the room. Recorded no steps, but my heart rate was recording fat burning.

Hi,

When are expecting another firmware update?

Best Answer

Lots of software issues. I got 4 days battery but had to change watch to a newer iphone and at that time did a factory reset of my Versa. Now I get 1 day with the exact same settings. I have tried all suggestions on forums with resets and have notifications off, all day sync off, raise to wake off, screen at the dim setting. Fitbit, you need to at least provide us with the possibility of seing what apps are draining the battery. I have only factory installed apps and clockface.

Hi there @SunsetRunner and welcome aboard to the Fitbit Community @apalulian. I was reading your concerns and I'm wondering if there was a fan or anything that may have been buzzing or vibrating on the same surface that your Versa was placed on

If this is the case, note that your watch might detect this subtle vibrations and translate this as activity, even when you are not using your Versas. If this is the case, try placing your Fitbit watch on a different surface without any vibrations and see if the issue persists.

With Calories keep in mind your Versa will take into account your BMR, the activity recorded by your watch, and any activities you log manually.

Your Versa calories count will reset each night at midnight and begin counting immediately thereafter. BMR is the reason your tracker starts the day with calories already burned—you've still burned calories even if you haven't gotten out of bed yet.

See you later and hope this quick tips give you some help.

Please STOP telling people the Versa mystery steps error is because of 'fan vibration'. This is dismissive, disrespectful and disingenuous.

Moderators, administrators and Fitbit KNOW it is a serious flaw and telling people they plugged it into the wrong place is simply rude.

I wasn't super mad until I kept reading the repeated fan theory lies.

Update. I contacted Fitbit customer support. They will send me a replacement. Still think this is a software error as it’s highly unlikely that a battery can go bad in one month. I hope this isn’t a problem that affects a larger amounts of Versas.

Hi. I got my iphone working with the Versa after I went to Bluetoot on the iPhone and put "Forget this device". After that I set it up as a new one.

Hi. I had the same. Go to bluetooth on your phone and "forget the device". After that set it up as a new device and it works.

I contacted customers support for the same reason and they will send me a replacement. I said to them as well that Indo believe this is a software issue as my Versa is only one month old.

Update

I got my replacement from fitbit on Monday. I charged it fully and wore it at 8:30pm. It has still got 30 percent charge left today . The previous fitbit lasted only 12 hours . I believe this one will last me for 3 more days. So in total 10 days. If you are facing battery issues then get your watch replaced . I believe it's the battery issue and not the update for quick battery drain.

@missbees, while miscounted calories from an “idle” (unworn) Versa could have many possible causes...including a defective particular watch...it’s clear that it’s not endemic to the model.  I’ve owned this model since it was released and I get no such extra steps when it’s idle.

The 2 most likely causes are 1) a defective particular watch and 2) some physical input (like a fan, but that is just an example) is affecting the watch.

if this were an endemic problem, all users would experience it and that is clearly not the case.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
I have read about your fan/vibration suggestions, and no, my watch is nowhere near a fan, an air conditioning unit, a vacuum, a washing machine on spin cycle, a dance party, or a heavy machinery in operation. It’s off my wrist, on the charger in a silent room. There is no reason why it should have recorded calories burned from 12am until I picked it up to put it on my wrist at 8am.

I have many other examples of inflated calorie burn counts as well as inflated step counts. Either release a fix, or please direct me to the appropriate supervisor for a refund or replacement.

@Anik, to clarify, how many calories did the fitbit record from 12a - 8a?  I ‘m sure you realize that it’s normal for it to record base calories burned even if not worn.

I did everything , step by step according to your help article to connect to wifi, but since I got my versa almost 3 weeks ago, but no luck. I can't connect with 2.4ghz frequency, but can connect with 5ghz frequency fast, but disconnected as  soon as switched page in fitbit app. I think this is a serious flaw with your OS, this is supposed to be a new watch but your firmware is way behind as far as wifi connection is concerned. I never experienced this with my other watches.

I'm using One plus 3t phone.

Dear friend,

Like you, I have had this particular piece since launch. I did not have any problem until last week. So, it is only a week of luck, good or bad, that separates our experience.

Hope this helps!

This  Versa is a piece of crap!! I have tried everything suggested on the forums and it still does not properly track my steps or miles. Do not buy a Versa!

1300 calories is not a base calorie count. Furthermore, if I’m not wearing the watch, there should not be calories recorded as burned. This is a problematic feature which is causing feedback inaccuracies and confusion among versa users. I specifically chose this watch over the Apple Watch because it claims to be better able to report activity related to fitness and health. Its been a $300 disappointment!

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about the different issues you are having with your Versas. As this has been mentioned before the steps could be caused by an external factor affecting your device (the fan situation is just an example to illustrate this). You can restart your Versa to see if this helps by doing the following:

1.- Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
2.- Let go of the buttons.
3.- If your Fitbit watch doesn't work normally, use the instructions in How do I turn off my Fitbit device? to turn your watch off and on again.

@NickePekka @Gaurav_347 happy to hear that you got replacements from Support and that you are back on track.

@LongIslandSailr thank you for helping in this thread.

@apalulian Note that the Versa and the other Fitbit devices will calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) which are the calories your body use for basic functioning with you personal information (height, weight, gender, etc.). You can read more about it here.

@Mburnett22 not sure what you have tried up to this point but you can enter your own stride length to improve the distance detected by your Versa. For steps accuracy you can refer to this article.

Let me know how it goes!

@AlvaroFitbit There is literally a support topic pinned right above this one that legitimizes the extra steps while charging and states that engineering is working on it. You're going to gaslight people on this forum and tell them the steps could be caused by a fan?! Really?! My bed is pretty much entirely a fan (Bedjet + 2 fans blowing on me) and I don't get thousands of steps while I sleep.

I have tried using my stride length as well. I have compaired the versa
data with my old surge ( I gave the surge to my husband) data after
wearing them both together during my walk. I have also compared the versa
data to the data on my Pacer app on my phone. The versa data is never
anywhere close to either the surge or phone data. I have reset and synced
the versa several times. I have tried every suggestion I’ve seen posted on
the forums. I don’t know what else to try. I truly wish I had kept my surge.

@apalulian, actually, counting base calories even when not worn is how it has to work because you burn them at minimum at all times, even when not engaged in any ‘extra’ activity.  As for 1300 calories being too high it would depend on your particular BMR (basal metabolic rate, based on weight, age, etc,) and how much time it covers.  For example, for me (160 lbs) 8 hours could be 500-600 calories.  Not saying you’re not experiencing a real issue, just trying to clarify the particulars.
