Fitbit OS 2.2 - Versa Firmware Release (32.12.19)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?

This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Well whatever it’s not fair that only 10% of users got the update but not me I feel like by the time the rest of us gets the update they already be on the next software release 32.14.23 Smiley Mad

If your logic were correct then the product would never have been released at all.

Since they made an initial release with bugs, and the previous firmware update that we got months ago did not resolve them, then it is perfectly logical that the next release may also have bugs in it. Obviously, hopefully not.

An old quote:

“Be careful what you wish for. You might get it.”

We think we know what we want, but we can never really know until we’ve got it.

Here’s hoping what we wish for will be bug-free.

The last update 32.10.15 which I still got was released in May as I got my Fitbit Versa On April 26 and I got that update 32.10.15 about 1 or 2 days after my mom got her update and 32.12.19 was announced on October 4th and released to 10% of users on October 9th and thought again I would get the latest update 1 or 2 days after my mom got her update on the 9th of October but nope never got it all through last month and now this is November 1st and still nothing, I’m sick and tired of being stuck on firmware version 32.10.15 with no update posted from the mods of when the rest of us will get the update Smiley Sad

I was one of the 10% Fitbit OS watch owner. I must say that update did take over 30 min and after that versa say that it was not success. After i try again it updated nicely. So i guess that they see some not happy users in community with update problem and they probably turn off updateing because it was somekind fail.

maybe they fix update or better way they are working with better charge 3 software and versa/ionic is like a mammoth and next fitbit will have android watch?

There is no turn off switch for updating, them not posting any updates in this thread or sending any updates to the rest of us users, well they’re doing this on purpose Smiley Mad

Of course they are doing this on purpose. But the purpose is not malign. It is not some kind of childish vendetta. It is not based on emotion. It is based on the need to have a viable update process. If the 10 % are having difficulty updating, that would be reason enough to delay and revise the update process to be less difficult. Unless you would prefer to follow an update process that might not work. I think you might change your opinion if that happened.

32.12.19 is the final version as in not in beta testing so they need to send the update out to the rest of us cuz the waiting and waiting with no word from the mods and no update still not being sent out is just getting ridiculous. Smiley Mad

Ever since the update my fit bit does not stay connected, or even connect period! to my android phone. I did not have this issue before this update now the darn thing wont connect no matter what I do.  And yes I have done the restart, reconnect, shutdown, remove, reinstall, reset...all of the above....

Please help!!!

@bbbeauti can you pinpoint which update is the culprit here? The OS update or Fitbit mobile app update? Honestly, I've been having the same issues since several mobile app updates ago. I'm currently running the fitbit mobile app version 2.74 (I found it most stable) and OS version .15. I noticed that at some point not only my Versa but also Charge 2 stopped syncing. This leads me to believe Fitbit changed things on the back-end, perhaps for the new update, and it completely bugged the sync. Unfortunately, there's no solution to that. It's not hardware. It's OS + mobile app. The only thing we can do is wait and hope for a stable, bug-free update. In the meantime, I recommend downgrading Fitbit mobile app to version 2.74.

People, come on, stop being such crybabies and start being a bit reasonable! First of all - it has always been a long run with the Versa. But more importantly, as has been already said here - Fitbit is not holding the update back because they don't like you or want to make you frustrated. Actually it is exactly the opposite - they found some issue (either with the update process or the update itself), so they don't want to cause damage to more people/devices. So I am sure once they fix it, you will get it. Or would you rather want to receive an update that might harm your watch?

There is no issue with the update process or nothing wrong with the update itself. They’re just taking so slow to release it to the rest of us Smiley Mad

@SunsetRunner on the contrary. It seems like devices are getting bricked. May I ask if you're having issues with your versa? Sync, notifications etc.? Sorry if you have mentioned it earlier in the thread. 😊

I'm glade that I haven't recieved the update,  it sounds like a nightmare.   I really feel bad for those who have received the update and now have broken watches.  My versa runs just fine without out the update.

The app works because it is connected to the Aria, the versa is not getting notifications. I did get it to connect last night...did not stay...to do it... try Connect, delete, try again, uninstall, reinstall, Bluetooth disconnect delete, reboot, try again, check other connections...say patronus stand on my head and chat connect 3 times.... Poof it connected for a whole 5 seconds!
