Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?
This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Factory resetting it will lose everything including steps and the 250 steps per hour...etc

@SunsetRunner You are correct that you lose steps per hour. I just wait until I've completed the goal for the day to do it. All your other stats are saved in your account, as long as you sync first.

Well I never done a factory resetting before so I don’t know how to do that

@SunsetRunner Go into the Settings app on the Versa. Scroll down and find About. Scroll down and tap on Factory Reset.
If your watch is working correctly, I wouldn't bother. I was just getting frustrated with the Exercise app custom stats not sticking after a sync. And I've had random restarts and vibrating that tend to come and go that I'm hoping might be fixed.
After you factory reset, remove the Versa from bluetooth on your phone. Then, go into the Fitbit app and tap on your account card in the upper right corner. Tap on add a device and follow the prompts. If you have good wifi, definitely do it over wifi. Mine took like 1/2 hour, if that.

It's easy don't worry. Hold the left button in at the same time as the bottom right button. Keeping them both pushed in until you see the Fitbit logo appear 🙂

@Uwev That's a restart, not a factory reset.

Sorry! You're right. Turned out that was all I needed to do to get things working again yesterday and a little less drastic

My watch is working correctly but except when I go to settings and then tap about and scroll down and under IP Address it says Wi-Fi off so don’t know why it’s saying that

@SunsetRunner It only connects to wifi for things like updates and downloading music. If you do an update, it will prompt you to connect to your wifi from your phone during the process. It seems like you're happy with your performance and a little nervous about the factory reset, so you should probably just wait for the update. I'm just not patient like that!

@meresydotes Oh ok thanks for the heads up but I have been patiently waiting since October 9 for the update and still didn’t get it so that just gets me frustrated

@SunsetRunner Oh, trust me, I know. Even if I wasn't having any problems, I probably would have done it. Why should other people have stuff that I don't?!

@meresydotes Exactly it’s like they’re holding the rest of us hostage with no update while those first 10% of the users already got the update to 32.12.19 on October 9th

Perhaps this update is just a buggy mess which is why it's not getting rolled out more?

Actually, the update seems to have fixed some persistent bugs. I'm sure there's more new bugs, but I haven't seen them yet.

....
does the fact that most of those "10%" are exclaiming how buggy and problematic it is not register?
I mean, what, you WANT broken software? Why? So you can complain about exactly the same problems and have a watch that works even LESS well?

@Jingtseng I haven't really seen any of those 10% complaining once they get it installed. Installation problems are almost always connectivity related - i.e. people have bad wifi. And those 10% upgraded, rather than doing a fresh install. My guess is that the update was causing a backend problem with 3rd party apps when it was installed on top of them. A factory reset removes the third party apps and thus removes the problem.
What I do know is that my exercise custom stats are saved now and my Versa only used like 19% battery yesterday; though battery usage has always been variable, it's never been quite that low. It hasn't crashed since the update, but there were always days or even weeks when it didn't crash, so I'm reserving judgement on that one.

Here is an example of the issues that devs of watchfaces are seeing with the new update and sdk.

There is no issue with the update for firmware version 32.12.19, they’re just to slow at rolling out the update to the rest of us
