Fitbit OS 2.2 - Versa Firmware Release (32.12.19)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?

This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Also with all due respect, but as far as I've  read all the messages she tried already everything to get her Versa working, hence my post.

@SunsetRunner I think you need to read more carefully. Factory reset has been performed, logging in and out from Fitbit mobile app and Dashboard on Fitbit.com, and deleting Versa but it seems like after factory reset. It doesn't really matter at this point. There is no mention of unpairing or 2-button rebooting in order to reset the setup procedure, neither in this nor that thread

@ENFRANCE2015 Could you please remind me your phone model and OS version?

Hi, you made your point, but nevertheless I'm just wondered that, after 481 replies, this problem is still not solved. I hope you can understand that. It's also not good for Fitbit's PR that someone has to wait so long for a proper solution.

@SunsetRunner  I don't think this is an unique problem with one single solution. There are 1000s of people who have absolutely no problem whatsoever, and then there are some people that seem to get stuck in a variety of connection issues of which it is difficult to pinpoint (at least from behind one's PC) what exactly is causing the issue. While I agree the whole process of firmware update and syncing in general should be seamless and plug and play, reality is it is not and people get stuck for various unclear reasons. That's life. Often.

@MichelleHale"...it just eventually worked. However I'm the app will not show my info...only the watch. I'm still waiting for "firmware" to download."

Now we are confused! What worked?! If your watch 'works' and for some reason you are still on the older firmware I strongly suggest to leave it at that!

I read the above as that somehow your watch is working, with the original firmware, but now it is not syncing yet with the app? Is that correct? That is the least of an issue. What is your mobile app OS, Android or iOS, what version? You should first open your bluetooth menu (via settings) and see if Versa is listed. It is good if it is, but sometimes it is not, that's ok too (getting to sync will take longer). Just let us know. Then, when you go into your mobile app, on the versa page, and you click on the icon to force a sync, does it terminate quite quickly (within a few seconds) and/or give an error message, or does the icon keep spinning for a 'long time' (like a 30s-1minute or longer) and then stops. Please let us know. Make sure to try to sync away from a PC, its bluetooth interferes easily. Once we know exactly what happens, it is easier to give guided instructions 🙂

@ENFRANCE2015"My Versa was not syncing properly so it was suggested I do a factory reset."   For me that is the very last option. Syncing issues is really something else. Is your Versa still stuck? Did you follow @Marrrmaduke advice?

I called on the and they said my device was up to date with 32.12.16. I told them there is a new version out, but still said it was up to date. Tech support was no help at all. So I just give up for now. It’s seem like know one knows what they are doing there. Considering buying a different device and going away from Fitbit being their support sucks.

@E-Lunsford  32.12.16 or 15? Anyway, that is correct - that is the last general version that is available for public download. You are up to date. It is also correct that there is a newer version, but it is not rolled out to the general public, yet. Many people appear to get a little annoyed about this, but in reality the new version is simply not ready for mass distribution. Think of it as in "beta-testing".

If you insist to try it out (with all the risks that come with it) you can force an update by doing a hard reset. I don't know why you state that their support sucks, when in reality they are right and you may have misunderstood the situation.... Good luck with your Versa!

I just bought the Versa yesterday and my weather is in celsius. I've tried to follow the suggestions throughout the community, but I don't even have "weather"showing up under applications in the fitbit app. I noticed that I'm not running the newest OS. How can I upgrade to that with the hope that it fixes this problem?

Seems the latest version only became a beta when problems showed up. I don’ recall anyone mentioning, when they received it, that they had agreed to beta test it. Also if people who just bought a Versa get it, that would make them unwitting beta testers too. This does not make sense.

  1. you have the weather app on your Versa, but it does not show on your mobile app under Versa > apps > my apps?? It looks like a sun half behind a cloud. It should be under all apps and you can install it from there too. I like the layout of the app, but the updating is hopeless, so be warned, but it is a start (in reality you need your mobile nearby for the app to update and if you have your mobile anyway then it is so much more easier to check via the mobile than on your watch)

  2. wether you get celsius or fahrenheit is coupled to the distance unit : my account (on your mobile app) > advanced settings > units > length Change this to  feet, miles instead of centimers, kilometers. If you already did this, or it doesn't do the trick, let the community know. I think it is not possible to have Fahrenheit AND kilometers at the same time.
  3. The OS version has nothing to do with it. And neither do you have to do a hard-reset, just before someone suggests it. But you need to sync before the above #1, #2 takes effect.

Everything I have read said nothing about a beta test. Now this makes more sense. Tech Support could have relay that information to me about 32.12.19. Would have made things a lot more understandable.

Reading all the post on line, I am not the only one confused about the latest firmware version. I am just looking forward to it hoping this version fixes the phantom steps and floors problems. No , I will wait for the official version to be released. Thanks
