Fitbit OS 2.2 - Versa Firmware Release (32.12.19)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?

This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Did a firmware update 32.32.12.19 immediately battery life less than 1 day from previous 5 days.  Now colors inverted impossible to read rendering watch unusable. Watch purchased late April just over 5 months ago. Read previous posts about inverted colors/screen, however, could not locate a solution. Any ideas? iPhone indicates watch is synchronizing, however, it is not possible to read watch

short time later after resetshort time later after resetscreen fades and color invertedscreen fades and color invertedBriefly after turning onBriefly after turning on

Are you able to install the previous firmware?  Others have had similar experience to yours after updating firmware.  Other than that I'm not aware of any solution either.

I was under the impression that once you update firmware then you can not rollback to a previous version?

Could you provide a link to the process or where to locate older firmware as I would rather fix the issue than send the watch back for repair/ replacement?

Thanks

Sorry, I don't know how to roll back the firmware on Versa.  I suggested it in case someone else already knew.

Is it possible to have this update forced to my account, my versa has a bug and is not reading my stats correctly. I’m trying to wait for the update to see if it fixes it!

@DroneFlyer69 Hi! I'm sorry to hear you've had some trouble with this update. Please try my troubleshooting suggestions listed in my floated post. If you still are having a hard time completing the update after that, let me know and I can connect you with our Customer Support team.

@Briant566 Hey, there! Just to clarify for you, the newest firmware version is 32.32.12.19. We have this documented in the help article: What's changed in the latest Fitbit device update? which lists all previous firmware versions if you ever need to reference them. You are currently on a previous firmware, we are still rolling out 32.32.12.19.

@wayneis Thanks for sharing this experience! I'm sorry to hear you had some trouble with the watch display after updating. I checked in with our Customer Support team and confirmed they are already assisting you with a replacement. Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

@Cacooley06 @SunsetRunner Hello! At this time it's not possible to force the update to your watch. Rest assured, we're working hard to get this rolled out to everyone, but want to make sure it goes smoothly for all of you. Please stay subscribed to this thread, as I will announce any updates here!

"We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed."

At 10% there will be another version out that Fitbit will want us to purchase.  Perhaps we should have been allowed to pay only 10% until our Versa Fitbit is update.

Fitbit you should be better than this.  Own your stuff.  Wifi problems are all over the internet for a very long time now.  Frustrated along with thousands and thousands of others that have Versa that will not connect to wifi.  Time to return another one... ; (

This update broke notifications for my part. My versa syncs fine, but notifications are broken. Can't even send the test call from the meny.

@wayneis @Glenmcd performing factory reset should automatically roll back the firmware. The only problem is whether the problem will reappear after updating to .19 as the update will start automatically.

@SunsetRunner @CycleFit I would say thank God it's being rolled out in phases .. seeing how buggy it is. Honestly, I am terrified to update. I am having a lot of issues with my versa but at least it's working... Mostly... Sighs

Hey Fitbit Mods... you'd better quit deleting posts you don't wanna see just because you don't know how to solve problems.

For the record... let me say first that I simply luv the Versa form factor... and everything it is "supposed" to be able to do... just perfect.  You'd have nailed this one - IF IT WORKED.  I've even convinced several others to purchase on... something I am now embarrassed about.

My Versa has ALWAYS been unstable with syncing.  Now today... it won't sync no matter what I do... won't even make a Bluetooth connection with my Samsung S8 on Android 8.

You'd better get the issues fixes... and you'd better quit deleting posts from those of us noting continued frustrations.

Be advised... we WILL take this to Reddit... where you can't censor us... and if you don't fix it... social media will carry this to the finish line... a finish line that results in no more Fitbit.  So if you value your jobs... then step up and quit playing like school children who can't take valid criticism!!!

A factory reset has nothing to do with changes to firmware.  Factory reset brings variables (data) to the same state that they would be in, on a devices first startup.  There are some systems that have multiple firmware versions within the device, with ability to revert to an old version should the new have some critical problem.  I don't think that any of the Fitbits have this feature.

I am having the same issue and now my texts and calls aren't coming in either.

@Glenmcd no. In case of Fitbit you roll back to the version your watch came with. That's at least what happened in my case. Spent 45 minutes updating to .15 via Bluetooth as wifi makes everything unstable for me. But again, I may remember wrong.
