Hi, everyone! I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.2! (Firmware Version: 32.12.19) At this time, we've released Fitbit OS 2.2 to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
IS THIS UPDATE AVAILABLE TO ME?
This update has only been released to a small group of Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa users. If you have not yet received an update notification and wish to force the update, you can give the watch a FACTORY RESET and then follow steps 1 - 4 below. Please make sure you sync the watch before performing the reset so that all your current data transfer over. Factory resetting your device clears all data from the watch including music, Fitbit Pay information, and apps. Historical Fitbit data will still be available in the Fitbit App.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
- Restart the watch.
- "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
- "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
- Try the update again.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Really looking forward to this update. Currently I am using my versa as a 229 euro digital watch. Hope this update makes it a smart watch like its supposed to be. Funny story. I made 10000 steps while travelling on bus from Zadar to Dubrovnik. have stopped checking my step counts on my versa anymore. It always seems twice of what I generally walk.

It is similar to the situation when you call a friend who is a car expert and say "my car doesn't start, tell me what to do". Without any further information he won't say any useful.
Anyways, does anybody know here why I didn't already receive the update? Is it region-dependent?

@AlessFitbit It's been 3 weeks and no indication that the update is being made available to any more than the initial 10%. I've been monitoring responses, and people seem to be having problems with the update, but nothing unusual from what I've seen in the past. So what gives?
Also, since Fitbit has very studiously ignored my question about whether custom exercise stats are finally saved after a sync, would someone who has the update please check for me?
If you're unsure what I mean, here's instructions:
1) Open the exercise app.
2) Tap on an exercise card.
3) Tap on the gear in the upper left corner.
4) Scroll down a bit and tap on Customize Stats.
5) Change any one of the options.
6) Back out to the clock screen.
7) Sync.
😎 Check to see if your changed settings are still changed.
Thanks so much!

Looking on the versa thread I think there are issues, so they might have halted it. I have not received the update either.

@wiseman13 There are always issues. Even for competent companies who are interested in customer satisfaction (not Fitbit), there are issues. Scanning the comments, I don't really see anything extraordinary. Maybe something's happened that hasn't been reported in these threads, but I doubt it.

Go over to the developer/sdk section. We are seeing a lot of JS memory issues etc that make applications that worked under sdk v1 fail to work in v2. There are also several reporting worse connectivity, which is saying something considering the current firmware struggles with many android phones.

@wiseman13 Makes sense. Fitbit certainly aren't known for their transparency. They were probably super stoked that they managed to keep the problems from this thread for so long. Oops!

About stats.. http://fortune.com/2018/08/01/fitbit-second-quarter-versa-watch/
Still, the popularity of the $200 Versa, which went on sale in April and quickly reached 1 million units sold, came at time of lull for the overall smartwatch market.
It means that over 100k fitbit versa have been updated to latest firmware. I guess there is also returned items also.

How does one obtain the update instead of guessing when Santa will deliver?

@kpspero There's something wrong with the update and no one is getting it anymore. Fitbit just somehow thinks it looks better for them to pretend everything is fine and gaslight their customers than just admit that there are problems, promise to work on them, then actually fix those problems.

There is nothing wrong with the update they just are so slow at rolling out the update to the rest of the ones (including me) and it’s starting to get ridiculous right now cuz I’m sick and tired of the waiting

Thanks!
I have been holding out in hope that Fitbit would have an Einstein moment and figure it out.
It's not worth the wait and I will use as a science project. Apple Watch 4 looks awesome.

I like the fact that, once the Fitbit app on my iPhone has received data from my Versa, I get to see the same data in the Fitbit app on my PC, without having to press buttons to allow the data to propagate.
The problem I have is a different one, which is that the Fitbit app, despite all-day sync, does not receive all of the data from the phone until I explicitly open the app and make it sync. So when I want to see sleep data on my PC, I have to first open the app on my iPhone, wait for it to sync to the Versa, and then re-open the PC Fitbit app to see the data full-screen (rather than crammed on a phone screen).
I thought the whole idea of Sync was that it HAPPENS, not that you have to keep prodding it to do so, like a reluctant horse not interested in reaching a finishing line. I don't have this problem with other apps, eg my Mail and Calendar apps on my iPhone and PC keep themselves synced without being prodded and pushed and shoved.
Microsoft doesn't have a problem with its server capacity, and Fitbit is a big enough company that it should not be having a problem either. Nor do I see any signs that it does, for data sync in general.
However firmware updates tend to be big and, like Windows 10 Updates, tend therefore to be phased. Generally not a problem though. It comes when it comes. Given the months between firmware updates, another few days is neither here nor there. And gives the opportunity for early recipients to be guinea pigs, and the rest to be spared the full grief.

How long will it take for all users to get the new firmware?
I live in Sweden and I still haven’t received the update.
I have tried everything and followed all the guides posted on Fitbits website, but still no luck!
It would be great if there was a possibility to download it by yourself and then update your tracker.
