Fitbit Update 1/10/19:
Hi all!
Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!
Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our Community discussions on-topic.
If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there.
Thanks again and happy stepping!
Fitbit Update 12/26:
Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Versa watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.
We look forward to getting you all back on track!
Fitbit Update 12/22:
We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.
We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 32.33.1.30)
We've started to roll out this update and it's currently out to 20% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here. We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Versa, please follow these steps:
*If anyone isn't seeing the TODAY app after updating, please try the following:
1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app (version 2.84)
2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Trying to contact Fitbit to see what can do.

I have had 32.33.1.30 since January 1st.
I have had a previous Versa as well as Blaze & have NEVER before had such battery drainage before. I only have "reminder to move" notifications on; everything else is switched off. My battery lasts no longer than 24 hours.
Does anyone know if there is a fix to this faulty Firmware version??
It's difficult to keep having to pop it on to charge 😞

I still can’t put my Ionic and my Versa on my account at the same time. This should have been one of the first things that was looked into. Why Fitbit Why?

I'm so fed up with it... They sent me replacement #2, but seriously I'm considering just going back to my alta since I was forced to take yet another versa I didn't want or lose my money.

Oh no 😱 I've accepted a replacement Versa! I hope this won't happen again!!!
Is there any way to avoid the new firmware when you set it up?

@SunsetRunner-- no
@Matclar-- what exactly is the problem or what error messages do you get? And what do you mean by "at the same time"? (just so we know what you mean and not guess you mean something different). You should be able to add multiple trackers no problem. Many people have this.

So 2 weeks after the update my device has totally died. Screen turned grey then went black and didn't switch on again. I tried to charge it (battery wasn't drained though) and to do a soft reset but nothing. Vlack, unresonsive screen So I'm deviceless while I wait for the replacement.
My question is, though, what really happened here? We have many pepole from different countries/regions who's perfectly working devices essentially crashed after the update. Why? Did the firmware update introduce a virus or perhaps corrupt something on our devices? Because this is really strange.

If we get the Versa replaced with a new one, won't we have to install/set it up with the newest Firmware version?? My understanding is that that is the only option, with a replacement (adding a new device)??

I believe it already comes with the update installed. I’ve had no problems with my replacement.

I added my new device (Versa) on January 1st. In doing so, the installation process was to download the Firmware 32.33.1.30. Is this controlled by the app or the Versa hardware itself?
If it is the hardware, then how will a replacement fix the problem, given this is only a newly identified issue, & a replacement is likely to come from the same stock I purchased the Versa from initially (on December 24th)??
Just trying to understand the problems we're all facing 😞

@AprilJade82"Is this controlled by the app or the Versa hardware itself?
If it is the hardware, then how will a replacement fix the problem, given this is only a newly identified issue" --- controlled by the setup process for a brand new device. Only a tiny fraction of devices has this issue, and only a tiny percentage of maybe a million or more users is experiencing this. Not everyone!
@Naza"My question is, though, what really happened here? Did the firmware update introduce a virus or perhaps corrupt something on our devices? Because this is really strange." --- Agree. But also some clean devices that have gone through a factory reset with all apps removed have this. I must assume that fitbit now has a stockpile of 'dead' Versa's (and Ionic's) with this issue and trying to figure out what goes on? I find it almost amazing that they have not yet released an updated firmware. Until then it is speculation what actually goes on inside a Versa -- and especially how to rescue a Versa that has this issue without having to go through a replacement. Whatever it is, it isn't good.

@LS643 Sorry to hear you're having trouble charging your Versa after this update. I suggest you also give the watch a restart with those instructions. If you continue having this issue regardless of all your troubleshooting efforts, I would update your case with our Support team to let them know and they can help you with the next steps.
@AprilJade82 Hi, there! Sorry to hear you're also experiencing a short battery drain. For this, I suggest you also try a restart on the watch. Then switch your clockface to one made by Fitbit. Charge the Versa to a full battery again and monitor the battery. If you're still seeing a rapid drain let me know and I can connect you to our Support team.
@Matclar Thanks for bringing this up! Rest assured, we're aware of this feedback and know many of you would like to connect multiple Fitbit watches to your account at once. I don't have any updates regarding this at the moment. If anything changes, I'll make sure to make an announcement on this board.
@Naza @sandracvrt @SunsetRunner I'm glad to hear our Support team was able to set you all up with a replacement! Hopefully, you all have great experiences with your replacements moving forward.
As I've mentioned before, our team has investigated these reports with battery drain issues and all your concerns are being heard. At the moment, I don't have an explanation for why this may be occurring to some of the watches, but I wouldn't let it prevent you from updating to 3.0. This update has a lot of great new features and improvements that make it well worth it. Your Versa watches are covered by our warranty should you come across any issues.

Yeah, you might want to check that warranty before you do the update, even if you're assured that your watch is covered, because even providing the serial number and barcode from the box my Versa came in, since I bought it from Fingerhut (which also carries the Blaze and Ionic in stock) I'm not able to utilize the warranty because they aren't an authorized dealer.
It could be a refurb or a counterfeit....right. New in box with serial number... RIGHT!

Thank you for the firmware update.
Ever since I have updated the firmware i do not receive any notifications on my FitBit Versa device.
The device is linked to my iPhone which has firmware iOS 12.12 installed.
Any advice?

@mcklein Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! Sorry to hear that you aren't getting notifications on your Versa. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there. Restart your phone and restart your device.
@mingke thank you for sharing your findings.
@SunsetRunner sorry to hear that Support couldn't replace your device. You can find a list of authorized retailers here. Still you can try contacting the team again and ask them to review you case.
Let me know how it goes!

"I wouldn't let it prevent you from updating to 3.0. This update has a lot of great new features and improvements that make it well worth it."
Is one of the features the fact that my launch-day Versa, which worked perfectly across multiple devices and platforms (iPhone X, Pixel 2 XL, Note 8, Note 9, Pixel 3 XL) for 8-9 months now has battery drain and notifications that stop after 1-2 days?
I don't want a replacement. I want an updated firmware (or a roll back to the previous firmware) that will get my Versa working like the champ it used to be! Did anyone even bother to test this firmware update before rolling it out? If so, how did it pass inspection?
Ridiculous.
