Fitbit Update 1/10/19:

Hi all!

Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!

Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our Community discussions on-topic.

If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there.

Thanks again and happy stepping! Smiley Happy

Fitbit Update 12/26:

Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Versa watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.

In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.

We look forward to getting you all back on track!

Fitbit Update 12/22:

We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.

We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 32.33.1.30)

We've started to roll out this update and it's currently out to 20% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here. We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Versa, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

*If anyone isn't seeing the TODAY app after updating, please try the following:

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app (version 2.84)

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Gotcha, I misread. I think the whole Macy's sale and update issues are seemingly related. I imagine having that many Versas activated with new updates being pushed out at the same time really screwed their servers.

I bet you guys my watch will not update to 3.0 when they release it to 100
% of users. I don't think I'll ever see my watch update. Just saying.

I understand but to be told that I can’t use it unless firmware is updated and I just bought it today sucks.

Not concerned about whether I will get the update but if I can’t use it then that’s a problem. Also, I didn’t buy mines at Macy’s. I paid way more. (Wish I had caught one at Macy’s, then maybe I wouldn’t be as upset).

Yes, I went back to a default clock face (The stock one mine started with) and I still have this issue. I currently shut down the watch cuz I am tired of seeing it constantly reboot over and over...
Fitbit should have a device trade-in program. Am I wrong?

@lenny4d, as if an update can sneak by in a second or two on the watch!

Just think how possible that is.

As far as I know, the update has to be triggered by the user to activate the update.

Is this a correct understanding?

Yeah, timing for an update with that kind of sale wasn’t the best planning. I was frustrated but I’m going to give it a day or two. I’ve had a Fitbit flex a few years ago and liked it so I decided to try the Versa.

Mine at least started with the old OS after couple of hours.

@chuacw Yes. It is not automatically pushed to you. You need to download it in the Fitbit mobile app. With time though, it will become available via factory reset, so every Versa can download the most recent firmware after being restored to factory default.

Wasn't updating via WiFi or BT, threw my phone and Versa on the charger and it worked seamlessly over WiFi.

The new Today app is AWESOME. Lots of data and glad to see logging. I always had to open the app on the phone to see sleep stats, now I don't.

I have finally got the update to download and it looks like it applied but the app says there is an update still outstanding. The version showing on the versa is 32.32.12.19 and the application says the version is 32.3.0.14. I suspect the versa is more accurate but it would be nice to have them all in sync.

Help please!

Hi,

I have tried several attempts to update the firmware, but no luck. I'm sure I'm connected to a working wifi and unit is fully charged. I'm trying the whole restarting, unpairing-repairing, disconnecting-reconnecting thing and will see if any of these will work. But yes, it seems upgrading the firmware isn't as seamless as any product user would like it to be.

I don't think the sale has anything to do with the update not working. I updated last night and it took forever. I woke up to a dead watch. So far I've charged my watch 3x in one day. It used to last 3-4 days. Now it lasts 3-4 hours. The update totally screwed my versa up and rendered it pretty useless. It dies so often that it charges more than it is on my wrist. I did a factory reset and that didn't help either.

Tyler, I dont think here is a way to know if we have missed another update until Fitbit tell us it's at 100% and our Versas havent updated. In another thread I asked if Versas that didnt get 32.12.19 will get 32.33.1.30 automatically or if we have to do factory resets to get past that bug but I havent gotten a response yet. I suspect some of us may have to do a factory reset and hope for the best but I'm hoping for a reply from Fitbit first.

@DeclanF I think I saw somewhere on this thread that someone did have to manually update to one of the latest software updates (32.12.19.) to get a notification for OS 3.0 eventually. When I look at my version I have (32.12.24) Did anyone else who had this version get the most Recent OS 3.0 update?

**edit** scratch that. I saw that Several people who had the older version still got the latest update. Still wondering how many people have 12.24 though.

Mine has done the same thing for the third time now, tried unpairing the devices. Restarted phone and versa and no luck. Made sure everything was charging and connected to wifi but update is not there although it said it was updating, went through the loading stage which took about 45min but still showing the old OS

I updated to the new version and it took 10 minutes! The only bug Ive noticed is that after swiping up to the Today stats, when returning to the clockface the screen dims for a few seconds! Not a major bug, otherwise this update is great! Battery life seems a s good too!
