Fitbit Update 1/10/19:

Hi all!

Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!

Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our Community discussions on-topic.

If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there.

Thanks again and happy stepping! Smiley Happy

Fitbit Update 12/26:

Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Versa watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.

In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.

We look forward to getting you all back on track!

Fitbit Update 12/22:

We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.

We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 32.33.1.30)

We've started to roll out this update and it's currently out to 20% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here. We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Versa, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

*If anyone isn't seeing the TODAY app after updating, please try the following:

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app (version 2.84)

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

I got the update yesterday.  Since that time, my swipe up to get stats no longer works.  Is anyone else having that problem?

My Fitbit updated all last night, I have a blue Fitbit logo on my screen but no clock, buttons don’t work. It did pick up my workout heartrate and steps this morning. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still just the blue screen. Now my alarm is going off and nothing works to stop it.  Please help!

@Sbranham  you should update the mobile app. It will take a little while before the TODAY-app appears there and it will then automatically update/install on the Versa. This is because the TODAY app is completely new, and it is a heck better then the old. Yes, the steps-left is in there (still) as are now sleep patterns etc. So be patient 🙂 (and update mobile app).

Everyone who is missing the TODAY feature: it is a new app with new design, new features. It will auto-install, it is not a bug/issue etc if it is not there right after OS3.0 firmware upgrade!!. It will appear under your installed apps in the mobile app, and you may need to upgrade the latter. Give it a day or two 🙂

Should I just wait it out? My swipe up disappeared after update

Battery charge not lasting as long as it used to after the update. I bought the watch not even a month ago and I noticed yesterday that the battery had died and I had just charged.

In USA.  Currently at 32.12.19.  When will my Versa be updated to 33.1.30?  Is there an way to force a manual update?

Best Answer

@Sbranham  "My swipe up disappeared after update " ... yes, this has happened to everyone. It is a new app on the Versa/Ionic that will auto-install. "How do I do that? I did go to their play store and hit update"  The latest version of the mobile app is 2.84 (on Android you find the installed version number under settings > apps > fitbit).  The app will install itself and be visible under the mobile-app-versa > apps. You cannot uninstall it. I have not checked if it works properly under ALL clockfaces, if I observe that it doesn't I will report back here.

@Mac0730"When will my Versa be updated to 33.1.30?  Is there an way to force a manual update?" No, it cannot be forced (allthough some people seem to have been able to fudge the system by changing location and language, see earlier in this thread), and there is no given date for full roll-out. The previous firmware version was not fully rolled-out even after 1 year, so it may take a while, don't expect anything in the next days, or weeks...  But hopefully it comes soon.

@Sbranham:

You have to update the Today app from the Fitbit app on your phone.

Open the Fitbit app on your phone, select your Fitbit, then click on Apps. There should be 'Today' app. Click on that to see if it needs an update.

@tmedcoff
Thanks
for all your troubleshooting efforts! I still have some suggestions for you
to try. Please if you could also give this a shot, I think this will help.

*If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the
following:*

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app. Then try
steps 2 or 3.

2. After that, manually go into the app to press "update" on Today.

OR

3. Connect to Wifi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and
let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

If the issue persists, let me know!

Updated yesterday (12/18/18), no issues then or now, however I've noticed that my battery usage has doubled since the update. I added nothing new nor change any settings but I'm setting at 52% at

11:15 am remaining now after being at 100% at 11 pm last night

@TEAMGONZALEXX @imabugaboo @DonTimo @SandyKat @Sbranham Hi everyone! We're currently suggesting the following if you're still not seeing the Today app on your Versa. Please give these instructions a try if you haven't yet.

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.

2. Connect to Wifi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

Please note, our team is aware of this issue and looking to implement a full fix. If the suggestions above didn't work for you, we will have a resolution soon.

@HeatherHwi @Mac0730 This current firmware release: Fitbit OS 3.0 is still currently at 20%. We have not fully released this to everyone. We ask that you please be patient while we monitor the performance before pushing it out further. I will let you all know in this thread once it's been pushed out to everyone.

@trvsdms There have been improvements made in our more recent firmware releases for this issue. Once you receive this update, please download it! I hope you'll see a difference.

@navdude @Liz18 I'm sorry to hear you're both seeing a decrease in the battery after this update. I suggest performing a restart on the watch and then plugging it in to charge up to a full battery. Please monitor the behavior and if it continues to decrease rapidly, let me know.

I just realized my Versa had never updated from the original firmware.  Reset it and now it's downloading a new firmware...just don't know which one yet.

I wish there was someway to have it save clockface and alarms so i don't have to go reset them... but oh well i'll redo them.   It's just a pain to set 9 alarms back up! 😞
