Fitbit Update: 9/16
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.1, available for Versa and Versa Lite
(Firmware Version: 68.9.12).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

I'm so sick of these weekly troubleshooting routines trying to get the notifications to keep coming and not just for half a day. I had to reset/restart my Versa to see the notifications working at least 3 times a week, and now the same thing with Versa 2. Sometimes I feel like we're acting like beta testers of the half-baked software. Why can't I, as a consumer, open the product, put it on my wrist and use it and see all of the features delivered as promised? Ugh!

I do that and it works for a few minutes. Then I look and it shows not connected. I go back to that and it shows off.

I have the same problem. Everything seems to work fine except I am no longer getting messages, which was a feature I actually liked before.

I use an Android Samsung Galaxy 8 - for the past week or two my syncing hasn't been working properly, then a few days ago I noticed that the TIME on the CLOCK is not keeping accurate time. I have removed from the app, and removed the app and reinstalled, reset Versa, - this last time I removed it now I cannot get it to even find it again to try and sync. Ongoing - I haven't received messages or call notifications regularly in months. HELP!!!! The time not keeping correctly is the last straw. I have to at least be able to use as a watch or what's the point?!

Hi suzzieq and others with iPhones: notifications, especially from Whatsapp, and iPhones are a known issue. Fitbit is trying to solve that problem. I also use my tablet for the Fitbit app, although it also works perfectly on my phone, but I want 1. to save my battery of my phone and 2. it works perfectly on my tablet. Regards kuzibri

@SunsetRunner "...notifications, especially from Whatsapp, and iPhones are a known issue. Fitbit is trying to solve that problem..."
Is there an official statement and is it posted somewhere? How is FitBit communicating their plans on addressing these issues to its customers?

Hi, see this: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa-Smartwatches/Whatsapp-FB-Notifications/m-p/2598139#M260. Although stated that it should work, there are still problems with it. Not every iPhone user has this problem, but a lot of them do.

@SunsetRunner I'm a Pixel 3 user running Android 10 and my problem with notifications is not limited to WhatsApp or FB. It's all of the notifications previously-configured inside of the FitBit app. Also, that link above is for a post started by an end-user, not an official communique from FitBit staff acknowledging the issue.

In the Today section of my Versa, I no longer see the Period Tracker as an option (like water and sleep). It’s not under Settings either

Hi, I know that the link is from an end user, but the answers from the Fitbit people leave place for doubts. Regards kuzibri

How do know my Versa Lite is running the latest software? Inside settings my watch says is running version 38.33.1.30 But then when I check the app it says Version 33.1.30
And then this post says version 68?!
There's no option to check updates or anything. I would appreciate some help

Fitbit always rolls out firmware updates in batches so as to minimize the number of people affected by any unforeseen bugs or issues. It's likely that they stalled the push to Versa 1 and Lite devices due to the issues people have been reporting. Anyone with a Versa 2 should have the latest firmware though.

Same thing happened to me. What worked for me was uninstalling the fitbit app on my phone and reinstalling and going through the setup and making sure all notifications are on. And also turning the bluetooth on and off and syncing. Have you tried these measures also?
Others have even done the above and removed the Versa device and then add again and then setup up the device as if it were a new setup.

While this makes absolutely no sense to me, the steps of:
did in fact resolve my versa's inability to maintain a blue-tooth connection to my phone, control my phone audio, and receive notifications from my apps. Yes, I did have to reset all my notification preferences and all of my personalizations which is a giant pain, but... my versa is now back to normal operation.

Actually, right about when i posted my update, my versa reverted back to not maintaining a blue-tooth connection to my phone, controlling my phone audio, and receiving notifications from my apps. I'm so thrilled.

Hi @SunsetRunner - Which phone are you using? If it is an iPhone, did you upgraded to iOS 13? The issue of notifications not working on iPhone iOS 13 is Apple’s fault. They made several changes without notifying third parties like Fitbit. Apple is working on the problem. As soon as it is corrected, I’ll let you know.

@VladXP - here is a link to an explanation from a Fitbit moderator. Contrary to previous postings, it’s not a “known issue.” It just takes specific instructions.
