Fitbit Update: 9/16
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.1, available for Versa and Versa Lite
(Firmware Version: 68.9.12).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

After I installed the update I no longer have heart rate monitoring. I have hard restarted the watch three times and nothing works. Any thoughts?

Best way to completely update your Fitbit Versa is t completely switch it out for a much better tracker and smartwatch. Today I am leaving Fitbit! Good luck with your Fitbit friend.

@AlessFitbit Did the "sleep mode" change from firmware 3 to firmware 4?
There is now a setting for a "sleep schedule" to silence notifications, but on the old firmware I think it automatically detected when you are asleep to silence notifications? Now it doesn't seem to auto detect, and it only turns on sleep mode if I set a manual schedule.
Is that an intended change? If so, why? That seems like a downgrade...

I also use pixel 3a, but there are no problems between Versa and pixel 3a.
Everything is good.

LOL.
As I suspected, anyone can write the release notes on "What's fixed", because every new release's "What's fixed" is "This release includes other bug fixes and improvements." like I wrote a year ago.

Since my firmware update this morning, only some notifications are coming through and i dont get any from whatsapp mainly. I spent an hour troubleshooting with suppprt to no avail. Neither DnD or sleep mode are on. When i long push back button there is no longer a "notifications on or off" toggle...simply DnD, which is off

Just thought I'd add my voice to the chorus of complaints - upgraded the firmware on my Versa this morning, I get notifications but no vibrate to let me know.
Have spent the day apologising for the lack of responses.
Think a new point release is required asap!?

You should still be able to. I can do that with my apple music, just use the back button and the option to change the song should be on there.

Back button does what?
everytime I hit the back button now I get the "Select Shortcut" with the 3 options. No matter what I do at this screen....the next time I hold the back button it gives me the same prompt.
What the heck am I doing wrong. I guess if I can't figure it out, it's a UI issue.

I updated to the newest update and now I am no longer receiving notifications (text, calendar invites, calls, or my bedtime reminder) I double checked all my settings and they are all on.

I am having the same issue! I cannot figure it out.

The suggestions did not fix the issue. I am not receiving any notifications at all.

I used some kind of Fitbit for over 7 years. I’m currently on my 3rd replacement versa and the last time it took over three weeks to get it replaced. customer support and their product used to be so much better. ☹️

It's blatantly obvious now, Fitbit has hired some amazing hardware engineers. But they've obviously skipped out on hiring competent User-Experience designers and customer-service managers.

Yes!! How these updates make it out of QA is beyond me. I work for a software company and our team would be fired if we continued to release this garbage

Debro, I work in software too. The lack of user-experience design in this Versa 2 is disturbing. They're either amateurs or they just don't care. Could be both, though.

Is there any way to turn off that extra menu that appears in the notification pull down menu? I really don't like it. I don't use the Versa to play music. I don't use Versa Wallet, and my long press short cut already takes me to the menu. For me, that extra menu that appears is not-visually appealing and serves no purpose. If we could have a setting to turn that off, I would be very happy. Thanks!

This is probably TlDr but whatever..
My story so far: Accepted the new firmware update after making sure phone and Versa were charged, and also made sure Versa was happy with the WiFi, same SSid as the phone etc. Seemed to OK but after the restart, the watch wanted to take me through a 'guided tour' which I was OK with except the 'Got It' button was on top of all the things it was telling me to do. So anyway all seemed OK but after the update, I noticed email notifications weren't working, and WhatsApp. In fact all notifications (except calls) so I looked on this forum and it seems I'm not alone.
Also noticed clock face wasn't accepting setting changes. I did the simple stuff first, turned phone and Versa off and on, reinstalled watch face, no joy, so left it a while. Came back to it and watch face had accepted some setting changes. checked it (Versa) could sync which it could but still no notifications (and no weather updates to the clock face).
So as nothing useful from Fitbit staff has been suggested here, I factory reset the Versa, Same experience with the 'Got it' buttons on top of what it was asking me if I got etc. Added my usual Apps: Fitbit pay cards, Strava, Phillip Hue etc. Easier said than done but got there in the end. The end result was even worse. Long press on the left brings up a set of 3 apparently working 'radio buttons' asking what to do with a left press? (WTF is that about as it doesn't select any one of them.) I worked out going to settings (on the watch) you select it there. So the wallet now should work still.
I'm now just about back to how it was after the update and before the factory reset. Strava on my watch tells me to link the account in the Fitbit mobile app, but the mobile app says it's 'Authorised'. Hue tells me it's checking for a connection to a bridge but Fitbit mobile app say's 'You can enjoy the app'. I could go on but I could start to ramble.
And, notifications (Whats-app, email etc) still don't work. Calls do, so It's definitely syncing OK.
Hopefully, it'll magically sort itself out over the weekend.

Thanks MikeD73,
- You helped figure out the back button mystery for me: To set it through settings rather than the choice selection that appears but doesn't work.
FYI: I tested whatsapp and it still notifies on my watch. Could you try toggling on/off that new "Do not disturb" option in "Quick Settings" that you can bring down by swiping down from top then clicking the right option.
