Fitbit Update: 9/16
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.1, available for Versa and Versa Lite
(Firmware Version: 68.9.12).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Updated Android app on the 16th in the morning. Updated my versa to the new OS later that day. So far the only notifications that don't work are for Outlook, which were working prior. I get gmail, phone, text, even NHL updates but would really like new email notifications for Outlook on my watch.

Add me to this list of folks who are having problems receiving text and call notifications. Would like to know if the people at Fitbit are looking into this issue?

I thought the same thing at first as well. Have you tried scrolling through the prompt to save your selection?

Thanks. Installed it while eating breakfast and I like the small changes. Especially the quick settings page looks so much better! And at least for me it runs perfectly fine. I still receive every notification (yes, even Whatsapp) and can sync it to my iPhone 8 without any issues. The only feature missing is smart alert, but hopefully we will get this feature sooner than later. :3

Just to throw another log onto the fire, my versa won't keep a bluetooth connection with my Galaxy S9 for more than three minutes after this update, so... that's awesome and useless.
Who would want to get notifications, use their fitbit as a trusted device to unlock their phone, or control their music by bluetooth?
Is there anyway to rollback to the firmware version that mostly worked?

In reponse to stubee:
Just tried again, including turning the Versa and phone off and on with combinations of 'do not disturb' setting on/off, still no go. Scrolled down to the 'Today' screen and had to accept another left-over 'Got it' prompt. Toggled all the options down there (Activity, steps/hour, heart rate) still no luck. There will be a simple trick somewhere but the lack of response from fitbit staff makes me wonder if all they can do is read from a script, if at all they answer.

I have the update and I really love it. The UI looks good try turning the sleep mode on and off if notifications doesn’t work or you can disconnect and reconnect your smartwatch to wifi.(I own the Versa 1)

I've spent today 2 hours on chat with customer service with no joy. Did
even factory reset. Still no notifications for emails and WhatsApp! Fitbit
do something cause instead of upgrade you did downgrade!

Notifications still not working. They come through but don't toggle screen on or vibrate. Calls do. Also, while i appreciate diversity, all the support people i have spoken to are terrible with english, proposing ideas which literally don't male sense (as in they don't even know what the buttons and UI look like) and have most recently said it was because i didn't have bluetooth on. Yes, i had bluetooth off for about 30 mins today while i tried to troubleshoot the problem myself since they havent been useful. Have spent hours trying to fix this now. Was this even alpha or beta tested? Sheesh. Don't even get me started on the notification pull down that's interferes with the little quick setting/music settings. Who in the world thought of that.

I received the banner but had to wait till I got home to my charger. My husband updated my phone apps via iTunes before I opened the Fitbit app again. The banner is now gone, it says I have versa version 33.1.30 bit when I click on Help/Check for Versa Updates, it says my Versa is up to date. What do I do now?

@Mowglismom you are lucky. Don’t do it. Don’t do the update. Read back on this thread. Wait until the problems with this update are fixed before you go through what everyone is.

No matter what I do my Versa does not receive texts or emails after this firmware release. Please don't tell me to reinstall fitbit app (I have) or do any of the action previously mentioned.
When i am in the Fitbit app notifications screen the widget is ON. But if i leave and go back in, the eidget turns itself on meaning it turned itself OFF when i left the screen.
This us NOT a finger problem, this is a firmware update problem. I get calls but no other data no sms, no emails.
Fix or compensate please.

I think it's the app update that breaks notifications, not the firmware update.
My Versa Lite has not yet received the firmware update, but notifications stopped working after today's update to the Fitbit Android app.
I, too, have tried restarting both devices, uninstalling/reinstalling the app, etc...no luck so far.
This is really unacceptable.

UPDATE my notifications are working again. I had unpaired my phone and watch as my watch does. Not like to sync to WiFi when Bluetooth is on but when I repaired it didn’t get notifications. This morning I went to Fitbit app. Otifications area and when I clicked in it, it said it needs to pair with my phone (although it was paired) but I said ok and the notifications are back.
Still do not have the firmware update (banner disappeared) but I am scared to death to get it anyway.
@Fyrfyter Thanks, will do. If I skip it, do you know how I will get it later if/when issues are fixed. I have extensive problems getting it to sync to WiFi (took several days to add music to watch due to this) and today had a Bluetooth connection issue. Just afraid I won’t get important updates with WiFi problems on the watch.

@achmafooma Is correct. I do NOT have the new firmware but notifications (at least text and calls maybe more] not working and I did the Fitbit app update today. I have an iPhone so not an android only issue.
FIX THIS FITBIT!!!
