Fitbit Update: 10/30
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family,
We're happy to announce that Fitbit OS 4.0.2 (Firmware Version: 68.9.15) has now gone out to 100% of all users. Please download it if you haven't already.
We always recommend keeping your watch and the Fitbit app up to date on the latest versions to have the best experience.
Fitbit Update: 10/9
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2 (Firmware Version: 68.9.15).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Thank you @SunriseRun427 Just so I understand, when you say "power cycle both devises", do you mean restart my phone and press and hold the button on the Versa Lite until it restarts? And should I do that three times on the Versa Lite?

@SunsetRunner
Since we're still at the troubleshooting stage, restarting your devices will refresh their memory and hopefully remove the cruft that can get in the way at times. It shouldn't be necessary, but restarting is painless, and non-destructive. Restarting once should be enough.

Hi all,
Bought a Fitbit Versa Lite Edition last weekend and I´ve been having some troubles regarding Bluetooth connectivity as my phone (ASUS Zenfone 3 with Android 8.0.0) and the watch could not be connected for more than 3 or 4 minutes. Because of that I could not control music playing on my phone. Moreover, the reception of notifications was was pretty random. Sometimes I was receiving everything and others received none.
The app warned be about a firmware update, which I promptly started to do. You cannot imagine how regretted I am. The watch simply does not update. Supposedly the updating process has 3 steps, but I cannot finish the 2 one. Out of the sudden the watch reboots and after a while the app says the update process could not be accomplished. Now, I cannot use the watch because it only shows the first screen, waiting for the app. Tried the following:
1. Rebooted the watch;
2. Rebooted the phone;
3. Uninstalled and installed again the app;
4. Waited 10 hours, yes 10 hours, for a miracle to happen hoping the updated could be done;
5. Deleted my Fitbit account and created a new one with a different e-mail.
I really do not know what I can do to solve this problem which is annoying me a lot because now I can´t even see the time.
Does anyone have an idea about how to solve this, please?
Thank you very much.

I have a Galaxy s9+ and wasn't using a messaging app. The text notifications was turned on and the messages came thru. They stopped after the Fitbit update.

@Luis_PT Have you tried this:
1. Press and hold the left and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take roughly 5 - 10 seconds.
2. When the Fitbit logo appears, let go of the buttons.
3. Once complete, you should be prompted to open the Fitbit app and set up your device.
If this works, do not try the update again.

Hi Fyrfyter, thanks for your reply.
Versa Lite Edition only has one button. To reboot the device and bring it to factory settings you have to press the button for 10 secs. Did that several and several times, but had no success.
Cheers,
Luis

Tonight I clarified my post-update problems with displaying heart rate while in various exercise modes.
First off: I have a perfect contact with the back of my Versa SE. I have a steady heart rate function on my main time display, with my heart rate
I have to note that today, heart rate display while exercising IMPROVED when I changed which exercise I was doing. During a walk this afternoon, heart rate display worked perfectly, and stayed on as long as I wanted.
here’s a set of observations I made tonight that illustrate intermittent heart rate display since the firmware update.
1-Exercise: Yoga. Heart rate blinks on, then off, and stays off. I worked through the other exercises, and when I got to Workout, heart rate displayed steadily.
When I went back to Yoga, the heart rate displayed steadily.
2-Exercise: Circuit Training. Now that the heart rate is displaying steadily, It also does this in Circuit Training. Yesterday, it didn’t work.
3-Exercise: Weights. Momentarily didn’t display heart rate, then it came on and stayed on.
4-Exercise: Workout. Displayed heart rate steadily.
5-Exercise: Treadmill. Didn’t display heart rate until I cycled through the middle display options.
6-Exercise: Run. Cycled to heart rate display, it worked from first appearance.
Back to Exercise: Yoga. Heart rate didn’t appear at first, but after cycling through middle display options, heart rate came on and stayed on.
Looks like a potential workaround may be to cycle through display options until the heart rate display comes up. But I can’t be doing that every time I want to see my heart rate.
FYI: I sync to my Fitbit Versa SE with an iPhone XS running iOS 13.1.2 with 256 GB storage.
Note: I didn’t put any HTML code in my message and it seems OK after cleanup, so here it is.

@SunsetRunner thanks. I tried to turn it off and turn it on again but the problem remains
@LizzyFitbit I tried the restart and the factory reset. But the problem still remains. Is there any incremental update in the next days?

I got the new update on my Versa and found a major slowdown for everything. The apps, the animations, the today launcher, everything is sluggish. I'm hoping this isn't to get Versa users to upgrade to the new Versa 2. I just would like this fixed
Thanks!
( I'm using the Samsung Galaxy J3 2018 running Android 9.0 )

Hi all.
Finally I sorted out the problem of not getting my Versa Lite updated with the latest firmware. As you may know, my watch was rebooting over and over during the update process after the first attempt. Because of that, the tracker was always showing the first screen, the one asking for downloading the fitbit app.
I decided to connect the watch to the computer using the charging cradle after I have downloaded the fitbit app for windows. As soon as I inserted the USB plug, the firmware process started. Here are the steps I did:
1. Downloaded, from Windows Store, the fitbit app and installed it in the computer ;
2. Reset the Versa Lite to factory settings by pressing and holding the button for about 10 secs;
3. Connected the watch in the recharging cradle and connected it to PC using USB port;
4. In about 30 min the firmware updated was completed.
Now the syncing process is and and for the moment the watch and the phone stay connected. I´m not having troubles with notifications. I´m receiving all of them. Hopefully it will stay like this.
Just one more information. Despite my attempts to solve this issue with fitbit, they never said to me to do what I did. They replied to all my mails, but never suggested to do the update using the PC, which I find very odd.
I hope this post will help you solving your problems and thus stopping being frustrated as I was.
All the best

Agreed, Luis. A similar process worked for me when the firmware initially refused to install.
Can Luis' advice be stickied for the benefit of others having problems with the update or syncing issues with their phones?

Good theres an update.
Bad youve now screwed up my fit bit.
I recieve no notifications on my fit bit ever since tuesday the 29th of oct. Just stopped.
Update has done nothing.
Might recieve phone calls on occasion thatll come through but other then that. Hoenstly its not just an expensive watch. Doesnt count my steps correctly, screen wont turn on when i move my wrist to check the time like it used to.
U expect me to pay for features i had prior to this new subscription **ahem** when your watches are dodgy at best.

Hi There!
After updating to this version, my fitbit versa 2 got very very unstable 😥.
The device freezes from time to time or reboots itself several times an hour.
In most of the time lifting my arm won't activate the watch anymore. Tapping on the watch doesn't even wake it up. And then suddenly it works again for a while.
Notifications appear, but can't be clicked from time to time.
I use the latest iOS version 13.2 on my Xs and also did several factory resets on my Versa 2. But that didn't help.
So, what do you suggest me to do? Is there a new firmware release scheduled soon? Or should I bring my watch back to the store?

@Koel I got a similar problem that you have. I got stuck at the clock face, so I can't access the menu (swipes - up, down left). I tried everything (soft reset, factory reset and etc.).
But today I was think about the problem and I tried to turn off the screen wake auto motion.
It has been hours since I did it and it's working perfectly. So I think the problem is related to the screen wake auto motion that in somehow lock the touch system. Because today I went for a walk, started a walk exercise and the exercise system was working perfectly but I could change the stats and/or and end the exercise by tapping the screen but the left button was working and changing the stats. So I got the hypothesis that the problem was not in the UI part but in the touch system.
@MattFitbit I think we got a clue about it, could you please forward this to the technical team? would be happy not to replace my Fitbit and keep it but receiving a update in the future.
Thanks!
