Fitbit Update: 10/30
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family,
We're happy to announce that Fitbit OS 4.0.2 (Firmware Version: 68.9.15) has now gone out to 100% of all users. Please download it if you haven't already.
We always recommend keeping your watch and the Fitbit app up to date on the latest versions to have the best experience.
Fitbit Update: 10/9
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2 (Firmware Version: 68.9.15).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Hello everybody 🙂
I have a Versa Lite and an iPhone 11 with the last update. Should I update my Versa? I still haven’t done it as I am afraid that it can cause problems with using my band. What do you think?

I seem to have been relatively fortunate with this update to my Fitbit Special Edition.
Prior to this 69.9.15 update, the only problem I had was the inability to clear all notifications.
Somehow, my update went smoothly by just tapping the update button in the Update notice on my iPhone’s Versa app. It properly displayed the green bar that progressed to completion.
Some time after the update I confirmed that notifications were now being completely removed. HOWEVER, when I went to the gym a couple of days later, I found that my heart rate was not being displayed in the exercise mode.
Later, trying different exercise modes, especially walking, I found the heart rate on the middle line was reliably displayed continuously. I then found that once the heart rate was properly displayed, I could go to any exercise mode and get a continuous heart rate display.
Today, during my usual yoga workout, I initially did not get a continuous heart rate display. I exited that mode and went to the WALK exercise mode. The heart rate displayed perfectly for as long as I had it displayed.
I then exited the walk exercise and started a new yoga exercise mode. This time, my heart rate was displayed continuously for my whole workout.
So, this indicates a workaround for my exercise heart rate display, even though it’s kind of awkward to do. Note that with my Fitbit in the normal watch display, my heart rate is properly displayed continuously in the corner of the display.
I’m hoping for a new update to solve this improper heart rate display in exercise mode, but plan on holding off until I hear that the new update doesn’t break something else!

My fitbit stopped syncing with my Huawei P20, and no amount of trouble shooting works. What's the point of a smart watch that doesn't have any smart features that work. Please fix this!

Hi everyone! Nice to see you all here, and a special thank you to those members who are trying to help others!
This is a small reminder that this thread is about the firmware update of the Versa Family! In order to keep the Community in order, receive the best help possible, and avoid confusing other users, please refer to other thread if you are having other situations, eg. syncing, notifications not received, display issues, etc.
@bcshiguemichi , @Koel , thank you for your comments, depending on the clock face you have installed, this might cause the lag or stuck of your device. Please change the clock face to one designed by Fitbit. Let me know how it goes.
@SunsetRunner , thank you for the instructions about the vibration. Regarding your question about All day sync and Always Connected : you should have this on, while updating the Versa Lite, as the update will be downloaded to your mobile device, and will be installed to your Versa Lite over Bluetooth. This will help keep the connection on during the installation. If you want me to contact Support for you I'll be more than glad to do so in your behalf.
@SunriseRun427 , thank you for the posts and suggestions. We could choose the post from Luis as Best Answer but we have to be careful with that as it is for Versa Lite only , not for the other Versa Family models. If you want to refer someone to his post you can always hiperlink the post with this URL https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa-Smartwatches/Fitbit-OS-4-0-2-Firmware-Release-68-9-15/m-p/3873968#M134390
@Luis_PT , thank you for sharing the troubleshooting steps. As I already explained Dumbwatch, you can always refer other Community members to your post if you consider that it will help them.
@Fyrfyter , thank you for the instructions of the factory reset.
@Ginofs , what clock face are you using using ?Some 3rd party ones might show different information (Heart Rate, Steps done, etc. ) I'll suggest you to install a clock face designed by Fitbit to see if you are still having the same situation.
@Hadenuf , thanks sharing experience with Support. Please keep stepping with your replacement.
@EFras , if you haven't done so I'll advice you to restart your Versa and to change the clock face.
@SunsetRunner , don't worry if you haven't receive the notification to update your device. The update will be available to all Versa Family users. Just keep in mind, to keep the Fitbit app up to date.
@pbug56 , @LeahBean , as explained by someone here, I think it was gemmahenkins90, the Cradle of the Versa Family is for charging. It won't transfer any data. What you might have experience, is in case you have a Versa or Versa 2, is that the watch is syncing over wifi, as it is charging. Wifi will turn off when not on the charging cable, to spare the battery.
@KSchiber , could you be more specific on the situation you are having? For best practices, when informing that you have a similar situation as someone else, please tag that person, in order for the Community to have a better overview and provide you with the best help possible.
@SunsetRunner , it's always recommendable to have your devices, independently from the brand and device, up to date. Updates help to have a better performance of your devices.
@p_enpointe , depending on you exact model, P20 pro, P20 Lite, P20, you should follow one of these threads, so that your situation gets the needed attention:
@Chrisp65 , if you haven't done so, please have a look at these articles:
My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone
How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device?
I'll also suggest you to have a look at the threads dedicated to notifications on your Versa, so that you can get more information, and help from users that might have solved the situation.
Regarding your comment about Premium. Fitbit Premium is a new service with more features as the ones offered with the free app. Taking advantage of them is voluntary and they could help users get fitter.
@7JHS39 , thank you for the pictures included, as I already advised @p_enpointe and @Chrisp65. Please have a look at the threads dedicated to heart rate. You could find very useful information on them. In the meantime, please have a look at this article: Why don't I see my heart rate on my Fitbit device?
@jcabotl In order to help out further, could you please provide the the model of you mobile device, that you are having difficulties with? The more information you can provide, the better the Community can help you out.
If I forgot to address someone, please let me know. I'll be glad to help you all further.

@JuanFitbit thank you for the message. The problem happened with any kind of clocks. Again o tried everything and also contacting the customer support and the solution was a replacement. The main point is that I found a work around by turning off the auto wake motion. I'd be glad if you could share this with the technical team to pack this bug in the next release!

Re: Your question about what watch face I am using. First off, it works perfectly, and displays time, (and in clockwise order). Battery %, miles traveled, steps traveled, and heart rate. It is by Barry DeLaczay, version 1.09. Again, it displays my heart rate continously, without problems.
My problem is heart rate display while exercising. Many exercises don’t properly display heart rate continuously, but the walk exercise always works to display heart rate correctly. After I have got the heart rate displaying in walking, I can exit walking, and start yoga exercise, and then Heart Rate will display continuously. This is my workaround: Go into walk mode for a minute or so with heart rate displaying properly, then go back and start my Yoga exercise.
Note: At no time have I lost continuous 24 hour heart rate logging. It has always worked after V 68.9.15, and works fine for sleep tracking.

I’m into 3 1/2 hours at 69% for this update. Bluetooth is a terrible way for this update to move from phone to watch. Before I updated my Versa Lite, the watch stopped notifying me of text and phone messages. Other than that it had no problems that I noticed. I am completely disappointed in how this company has handled this update. This was a gift from my wife. She is disappointed. I’m disappointed. I’m currently looking at Apple Watches as I write this out.
And now it’s at 71%. Just terrible!

After seeing how various things could contribute to software misbehavior, I will try removing my really attractive watch face and find a real FitBit face to see if the heart rate display in exercises not working, and let you know how it worked. Maybe the author didn’t revise his code for the current 68,9,15 update.
Thanks for your help!

Well, the versa lite keeps telling me to enable bluetooth and won't connect my watch to my PC. so screw it. I'm buying an iWatch and I will be spreading the word about this garbage.

The Versa Lite uses Bluetooth to connect to other devices, so you will need a Windows PC with Bluetooth.

@SunriseRun427 So, I got the watch back to factory settings. Tried the PC thing, but it wouldn't work. Like I wrote earlier, the Windows App wanted me to enable bluetooth. The cradle doesn't act as a port, but more as just a charger cable. However, the update did occur. Seems I did it prior, but the fitbit app was asking me to update it still. So, the update is really REALLY buggy. Slow response, no notifications, etc. It's a bummer. I really loved this watch. I'm giving up the ghost on this one. I appreciate your help! Thank you. Fitbit has screwed this up baaaad!

"...Windows App wanted me to enable bluetooth..."
This threw me, you see. Does "enabling Bluetooth" refer to the tracker or the PC? As far as I'm aware, the tracker's Bluetooth is always enabled.
Setting up the tracker as a new device in the W10 app should restore the previous firmware. It's then up to you whether you choose to update it again with the phone app.

Disabling auto-wake seems to resolve the issue with the sluggish UI and being unable to swipe to access menus - downside is that you have to manually wake the Versa 2 with the button on the left. Many thanks to whoever it was that figured that out, makes my watch actually functional again!

Hi everyone. It's nice to see you in this thread and thanks for posting back your inquiries.
@SunriseRun427, I appreciate your big help and I'm sure other users will also found @Luis_PT's suggestion very helpful!
@Ginofs, you're welcome and thanks for your efforts. Please try another Fitbit clock face to see if how this affect your watch's performance. If the issue persists, feel free to let me know so I can request a case for you.
@David_Gabert, thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot your Versa Lite as well for the information provided. I'm sorry that you're having this experience and let me clarify with you that to update your watch you'll need to have a Windows 10 computer with built Bluetooth. The recommendation to plug it in the charging cradle is to prevent your watch from draining the battery during the process. That said, since you've performed the factory reset, have you tried the set up process as a new device? May I know the error message you're getting? Also, what's your phone's model?
@pbug56, since you have the Versa you should be able to connect to WiFi to update the firmware and install apps. You'll need to open the Fitbit app on your phone, tap on profile's icon > Versa > WiFi settings and set your network. For more details, please see this help article.
@PradeepKN, thank for trying the restart process on your Versa and since the screen remains blank, I've requested a case on your behalf so our Support team can give you a hand. You should receive an email shortly, keep an eye on your inbox.
@Aqyx, thanks for your efforts and I'm glad the suggestion posted by @bcshiguemichi worked on your Versa 2. Now you can be back on track!
@LeahBean, thanks for the clarification and for troubleshooting your Versa Lite. Just to double check, although you don't feel a vibration, are you able to receive the rest of your notifications? Do you feel a vibration for reminders to move or silent alarms? Also, have you tried removing your watch from the Bluetooth settings on your phone and setting up the notifications one more time? Please confirm this information so I can further investigate on my end.
I'll be around if you need anything else.

I took your suggestion and switched to the FitBit layers click face.
But I still have the problem of heart rate not displaying in exercise mode. Going to Walk exercise displays heart rate well, then I can start Yoga exercise and heart rate displays.
I also found that tapping the left button to cycle through middle screen items in Yoga exercise can also bring up the heart rate, although I might have to cycle through the displays until heart rate displays steadily.
This lack of heart rate in exercise is not affected by the clock face. I switched to several faces and whether I use Fitbit displays or others, heart rate doesn’t work unless I play around with either going to walk exercise, or toggling the middle display with the left button while in yoga exercise mode.
Hoping for a solution!
Gino
