Fitbit Update: 10/30
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family,
We're happy to announce that Fitbit OS 4.0.2 (Firmware Version: 68.9.15) has now gone out to 100% of all users. Please download it if you haven't already.
We always recommend keeping your watch and the Fitbit app up to date on the latest versions to have the best experience.
Fitbit Update: 10/9
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2 (Firmware Version: 68.9.15).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

@LizzyFitbit....Bluetooth music control still doesn't work
Tried everything including your advice and help article
"....thanks for letting me know that the music control isn't working, and for the steps tried. I'd recommend to turn off other Bluetooth connections to avoid any interference, and give a try to the steps described in this help article so you can adjust the source to your phone"
When trying to pair with my android phone (and it's on the list) my phone sees "Versa Classic" for a few seconds but the Fitbit reports back "Device not found...make sure device is on and in range"
This worked fine before the update 68.9.15
What is really happening and what are Fitbit doing about it?

@LizzyFitbit Thank you for letting us know that the new Versa firmware is intended to change the Versa interface to match the Versa 2. Many users seem to be having a variety of issues with the new firmware. For those of us who don’t want to change the interface, who want to avoid these new issues, and who haven’t done the upgrade yet, the simplest solution would appear to be avoiding all future Versa firmware upgrades. Then it won’t matter if, or when, Fitbit sorts out the problems with the new firmware. Many users would be able to remain happy with the Versa product as they originally purchased it. Fitbit should mention this as an option in their upgrade banner in order to lessen the number of users who become upset with the malfunctions and changes that come with the update.

To anyone getting the notification visually on their watch but not getting the vibrate it might be worth just double checking that the Sleep Mode (on the watch) is not set to on

I've not dared update after seeing the troubles others have had but just noticed that the nag message to update your firmware has disappeared from my app.
Has the firmware now been pulled?

My Issues after the update.
Music controls will not come back on. This was not an issue prior to the update. Note 9 with all updates
I have also had connection issues. It would state no device connected but then i hit a second time and it would sync.
I have also had where i recorded a workout and synced the workout would not register under workouts on the app even though it synced my steps after several manual syncs I decided to add the workout manually and only after several hours it synced my workout on it own.

I recently updated and it seems that I am one of the lucky ones. Before the update, Fitbit app and Versa were using my phone's battery at an alarming rate. I have all day sync off, but it was constantly 'looking for device'. My phone would drop 1% EVERY few minutes, requiring charging several times per day. The Versa went from weekly charges to daily. AFTER the update, things have greatly improved. Getting my notifications, HR and steps seem accurate. My left button now gives me the option to view and review notifications without having to swipe down. I don't mind the quick settings drop-down, just need a quick tap to see notifications. If that bothers you, just try the left button.

Day 6 without notifications on Iphone 7+ after IOS 13. 10/9 update on this forum is nearly a week old. Call customer support to no avail. Just not acceptable, must have notifications.

Since I've downloaded the newest update, my fitbit doesn't vibrate when i recieve texts or phone calls. It worked fine before the update, but now it doesn't and its extremely frustrating.

Going back to my Timex Ironman after this firmware upgrade. All worked perfectly for a whole year and in 10 minutes it is now deemed basically unusable anymore. Bluetooth never stays paired, turns off after paired. Setting get in the way of reading messages. Useless. Hit the wrong button your exercise gets stopped without knowing it. Just check the history on mine. Everyday, no issues. Sleep included. Now all historical data will be tainted. Back to the phone and headphones. Not really sure why or what improvements were needed so bad you would wreck a good thing. Thanks a lot!!!!!

I've also been lucky so far that my Versa has been responding well since the update. I didn't have an issue with notifications before but syncing would get held up at times or was very slow.
I was hesitant in doing the update after seeing so many posts about users having issues but so far it's been working better than before. Still have an occasional issue with looking for the device but clearing out the cache, force stopping the app or turning bluetooth off and back on clears out the issue.
I don't mind the set up. It took a few minutes to get use to the new set up and where everything was located settings but if I decide to upgrade to the Versa 2 at least I'll be use to the functionalities of the new set up.

The Fitbit iOS app once again pushed 4.0.2 in the direction of my Versa Lite. This time, the update installed successfully within 10 minutes. To date, the only problem I have had with this watch is the dicky connected GPS which under reports distance run by anything between 15~30%. Are the Fitbit staff trying to tell me I'm fat?

Have not been able to update fitbit versa at all. For the past week it has not been able to sync with my android phone (Moto Z2), which it was previously working well. I attempted all the trouble shooting recommended in the forum. Was desparate and attempted to factory reset my watch, which I am not regretting because I can't even set up my Versa. Gets to "found it" and says "connecting.." then ultimately fails every time. It is just frustrating because I spent $230 on this and it has been useless to me for a week now. I don't know what to do with it. It does not even work anymore.

How do I contact Fitbit to get help with my Versa? I too had the notifications issue with the update and tried a factory reset as I read on one of these threads and now have the red cross of doom stating data not cleared sync and try again. I've tried deleting it from my account and unpairing it and it will reboot and then won't update and start up, just shows the red cross again. I fear it may need replacing after reading other people's posts on here. How do I get help?

Yeah. I'm just not ever going to update my replacement tracker. It was a headache last time, and ended up completely screwing it's ability sync, not gonna update ever again. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Jenabee, I had a similar situation where my Versa was unusable. You may need to try setting the Fitbit up from another device; I had luck using a Bluetooth enabled W10 laptop.
