Fitbit Update: 10/30

Hi, Versa Smartwatches family,

We're happy to announce that Fitbit OS 4.0.2 (Firmware Version: 68.9.15) has now gone out to 100% of all users. Please download it if you haven't already.

We always recommend keeping your watch and the Fitbit app up to date on the latest versions to have the best experience.

Fitbit Update: 10/9

Hi everyone,

We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.2 (Firmware Version: 68.9.15).

We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED

This release includes bug fixes and improvements.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here

To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.

If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips

We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

@SunsetRunner  What is the firmware version on your Versa? Mine is still at 33.1.30 and I get the firmware update notice all the time too. I don’t want to do the update. Has anyone figured out how to disable this?

Iphone. And I had ios13, it was working with it, then just stopped. So that’s not an excuse like the message popping up is saying.

I have an iPhone too and everything worked fine when I updated to iOS 13. Then I updated to the new firmware yesterday and text vibrations stopped working, but it still works for calls and everything else seems to be working.

@Fyrfyter

That's the version I was on as well.  I never received the notification for the prior firmware update.  I contacted support and there's no way of removing the notification with the exception of installing the firmware.

I just did the update a little bit ago and my Versa seems to be working ok.  Notifications seem to be working  but I didn't have an issue before with this.

The only issue was that the app had a hard time finding the device afterwards so I had to do some troubleshooting.

Nope! I’m extremely unhappy.

I tried updating my Versa Lite via the Fitbit App on an iPhone 6S and iOS 13.

After several hours, the update halted at 98%, and the watch refused to complete the update despite repeated attempts (it kept restarting during the update process).

Faced with an expensive paperweight, I did a little more troubleshooting. If you have a seemingly bricked Versa, and you have access to a W10 PC with Bluetooth connectivity, try to restore the watch through the W10 app. I'm back on FitOS version 33.1.30, but at least the watch is functional (and, by the way, the update has disappeared - has it been pulled?).

Hi, it wasn't till I updated my Samsung phone to this new update that I started getting the problems. I no longer receive any notifications on my watch. I've tried everything. And this is the new update that has caused this

My mobile Fitbit application has indicated that there is new firmware. Refresh or not refresh that is the question! Anyone with the latest firmware(Fitbit OS 4.0.2) perfect??? Samsung Galaxy S9+ Android 9.0, newest Fitbit app.

I've got the update and this is my two cents.

1. Hebrew characters shown LTR instead of RTL - the good thing is that the characters shown and not the ??? that was shown till now.

2. My Bluetooth settings changed, and i noticed that when i set it like i want it changed again. can't pair to my device and control the music.

3. The notifications bar is great.

I have the iPhone 11 & this **ahem** Versa 2 no longer notifies for calls or texts. It was working on & off, now nothing

Please help! I updated yesterday and can't get any notifications on my Versa Lite. I'm have a Pixel 3 running the latest version of Android 10.

I've restarted phone and watch multiple times, unpaired and repaired, cleared app cache, removed the fitbit from the app and readded it. I can't think of anything else.

After a notification comes through, I can swipe down and see the notification, but it doesn't pop up when the message arrives, and it never vibrates.

So Fitbit are pushing several software versions out at the same time but you get no indication as to which you're going to get …. and no idea what the new firmware will do. This is crazy!

There should be a list of all firmware along with status, compatible fitbits and a new functionality/fix list. Why can't Fitbit do this ? Would save a lot of aggro 😉

I got an email when you posted your response, and that notification came through just fine. But Facebook Messenger and Google Hangouts (and who knows what other apps) aren't working. When I went to check which apps can send notifications, I noticed they had all been unchecked. I checked this yesterday, and everything there was as expected. I'll see if turning all those back on will fix the issue.

Looks like that fixed it. I've gotten Hangouts and Facebook notifications now. I guess when I removed the fitbit from the app, all the app notifications became unchecked.

I was told last night that this rolled out on Monday. I still haven’t gotten it. When will we all get it? Since this is causing so many people problems, I don’t understand why Fitbit won’t take our concerns seriously. It’s disrespectful. BE BETTER.

Same here. I had a Samsung Gear fit that also came with 'find my phone' . Never had an issue. I've had my Versa less than a year and this update has made it unpredictable. The time on my Versa is often off from real time so I cant trust the alams.

Try removing the device from the app and then setting it up again. I have an iPhone and it worked for me when all the other trouble shooting wouldn’t.
