Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020

Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!

I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.

If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.

Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!

Fitbit Update: 12/5

Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!

We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).

We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED

The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:

    • Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.

    • Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.

    • On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.

    • Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.

    • Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.

    • Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.

For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here

To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.

If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.

How to restart your watch:

  1. For Fitbit Versa, press and hold the back and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. For Fitbit Versa Lite/Fitbit Versa 2, hold the back(left) button for 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.

We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Did some searching and found a tip for an unresponsive Versa 1. Hold all three buttons at once for about 20 seconds. That got mine back up and running and appears to be fine now. Saving the multiple clock faces is great to finally have

Another Versa 1 owner who ran into issues with the update today.. I got in contact with support and went through all the trouble shooting steps with them, which didn't work. Thankfully, they took mercy on me and my situation. I'm still trying the 3-button reset periodically. It just seems like a waste. The Versa was working perfectly before the attempted firmware update. Now I'm nervous about future updates.

Well, not quite a month RonaldM, but four days, which is fine.

Installed the upgrade and all seems well, but I guess we wait and see.  For everyone's information I made sure the versa (versa 2 in this case) was fully charged and plugged in to the charger and pin number was in and the iPhone was well charged and plugged in, and I didn't touch anything until the installation was complete.

I now have four clock faces installed/saved, which is good.

Disappointing to find that, even with all of the negative feedback, that blooming quick access drawer is still showing up *over the top of the notifications drawer*.

I am having similar issues. I updated my firmware yesterday, 7 Dec,  my fitbit and phone won't sync since the update.  I unpaired them and now can't get them to re-pair. I get as far as putting in the numerical code and no further.

Have restarted my fitbit numerous times, nothing seems to be working.  Any advice appreciated

I have the Versa Lite edition and I just got the update today ,12/8/18, with no troubles. I hope this fixes the ‘Pace’ inaccuracies. For those with a Versa Lite, or a Versa 2, with a single button on the left side, if you need to restart press and hold that button for ten seconds. The screen will blank out. Let go of the button when the Fitbit logo comes on the screen. Wait while it finishes rebooting. You will feel a short vibration when its done and the clock face will come back on.

I only have one button on the Versa Lite. I restart by pressing and holding that one button for ten seconds. During this the screen blanks out. Let go of the button when the Fitbit logo comes on the screen. Wait for the boot up process to complete. You will feel a short vibration when its done then the clock face comes back on.

I updated my Versa Lite on Friday & since then I cannot swipe the screen. I can see the watch face & get notifications of texts, emails & calendar reminders; but I can not tap or swipe to see anything else. I have restarted the watch a few times since Friday with no change? Any suggestions?

The only thing that worked for me was a factory reset. See my earlier post
for details.

I have tried several times to do the factory reset using instructions found online:

If your Versa Lite needs factory resetting and you can't do so via the Fitbit app, this should work:
  1. Hold down the button (reboots device after ~8 seconds).
  2. Wait until the static logo disappears.
  3. Release the button briefly (< 2 seconds), and hold the button down again.
  4. Wait until a long vibration is felt.

And this is not working either...

I can't get to the settings on the watch - becasue i can't swipe off the main clock face.  Any other suggestions?

I updated my Versa classic and for a while, it was working.  But then it stopped syncing and I kept getting "device not found" errors.  I have both the iOS app on my tablet and the Android app on my phone.  Prior to the update, my tracker was able to sync with both devices.  I went through the troubleshooting steps and no joy with either device.  The tracker still turns on and is still working, apart from not being able to sync with any device.  I hope this can be resolved soon.

[edit]  I checked the charge on my versa and it's not really holding a charge that well anymore, but it is still turning on

After the update, I no longer get text message notifications on my Versa 2.

I figured that out after a while. But every time I turn it on like that, my battery has dropped because of this update. It was fully charged before I turned it off, and when I turned it back on it had dropped to 70%. Extremely annoyed with this newest update

THANK YOU!!

They released this without ironing out the MANY kinks!! I’m beyond frustrated

Had the same issue and it took me a while to find a solution.

Account > Versa > Apps > Agenda >  Permissions

I had to toggle all a couple of times and then sync. Seems to be working now.

Yes - it's going to be a loved feature.

Is classic Versa going to receive the update? I see that the Versa I own has a firmware version 32.68.9.15 and it is not updating... will it update in a near future, or do I own an incompatible device?

Thanks in advance for any help
