Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020
Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.
If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.
Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!
Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.
How to restart your watch:
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Me: Are you doing anything to fix the update that messed up my versa lite this week? I was trying to change clocks and they wouldnt finish and kept giving errors. I deleted and re installed and now its still trying to update after adding it back to the account and its been sitting here for 15 minutes with no progress.Me: The same issue is posted all over the google play store.
Me: the watch is just scrolling through the logo with all the foreign languagesMe: This must be a big one, usually its less than 20 minutes.Benjamin: Got tat.Me: The watch and the app dont seem to be linked though, the phone is saying its updating and the watch is being random.

I received the update over the weekend and since my fitbit will only sync maybe twice a day.. it won't connect via bluetooth. It's losing time and at one point and an hour + behind. I've tried all the fixes and it's still having issues. I've sent pictures and screen shots and finally they just told me they know about the issue and have a nice day. This isn't even a year old.. I'm about to be an ex fitbit user even though I've had one for over 5 years now...

I have a versa lite and with the new update, am unable to see my sleep score on the device, there are just blanks where it is supposed to have info.

And they are still running the black friday/ Christmas deals over here in UK. Such a scam !
If they would have been genuine then they would have allowed us to roll back to the previous firmware.

A replacement wont help bad software, we need to be able to uninstall the last one or a patch.

Why does my firmware say 32.70.714 after updating on my Fitbit Versa.
If this is the new update, everything looks cheap and lame about, the new clock face sucks and the font is making me sick to my stomach. The apps icons look worse then ever, and then the exercise list downgraded. I really loved scrolling thru the exercises seeing the cool pictures of each exercise, really felt like it was worth buying a Fitbit. Now I'm embarrassed to even wear this Fitbit with this cheap looking software.

I have no issues with my Versa 2, and my wife and daughter and brother in law have no issues with their Versa 1's. All working well. As for the upgrades, the upgrades to all four devices went smoothly and everything is good. Four out of four!!

Hi! I have successfully updated my Versa. However, when I shut down the gadget, the next day cannot be on back and be charged. What should I do now? I have tried charging it but no notification of battery on the watch. Thank you.

SH910214: for 1st gen Versa apparently you now have to hold the left and bottom right buttons for 10 seconds to turn it on.

Also curious to see if this fixes the HR issue. I have a SE and waiting to see if they'll apply the fix (if there is one) to original Versas as well.

There are several other threads that cover the issue but this one is as good as any and goes from April of last year to the present:

Hello,
After updating my Versa 1 to this recent version I have the following issues:
- Clock faces show an x and a circle around and the watch says to the check the fitbit application again.
- If the watch is shut down, it won't start by itself when put into the docking station and this means that if my watch goes to 0% it will be bricked.
- The watch only starts if you press all 3 buttons on it and not only the power button as it did before the update.
- Lots of syncing issues and it looses connection tens of times per day.
- When uploading a new face, 2 out of 3 times it reboots instead of just applying the watch face.
Please provide a solution to downgrade this firmware version as I also have a colleague that experiences the same issues with his Versa 1 after the upgrade.
