Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020

Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!

I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.

If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.

Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!

Fitbit Update: 12/5

Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!

We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).

We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED

The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:

    • Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.

    • Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.

    • On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.

    • Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.

    • Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.

    • Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.

For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here

To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.

If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.

How to restart your watch:

  1. For Fitbit Versa, press and hold the back and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. For Fitbit Versa Lite/Fitbit Versa 2, hold the back(left) button for 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.

We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

I hear ya. I bought mine from qvc and they told me I could do a full
refund through end of January. If this issue is not resolved soon I may
just return and go with Samsung.

Looks like factory reset fixed my battery issue. Still seems like I have to hold two buttons to get it to turn on now.

Edit: still having the same issue. Got a versa 2 (much nicer). Seems to  also have this issue!!

Apparently for Versa 1, this firmware changed it so that 2 buttons is the normal way to turn it on now. I wish they would have communicated that as part of the notice to update the firmware. Many people think their Versa is bricked, but it just takes the 2 buttons (left and bottom right) to turn it on now.

I have the Versa 2. After updating last week my battery life is draining very fast. I don’t use any apps and have not been doing anything different. The battery life went from 4-5 days to about 12 hrs and then it’s dead.

What helped me was the following: delete versa from app, delete app from
phone, reinstall app on phone, log in and re add the versa, disable all day
sync. It has gone from 100% battery to 75% while wearing for over 2 days
now! That is only a 25% drain in almost 72 hours. It actually is working
much better than before the update after i did the above steps

Well after doing a factory reset and deleting it from my phone I’m at a complete loss. My phone and Bluetooth cannot find my device.

Go to app and add a new device.  Set up like you did when brand new.  App will not lose your history.

My phone app can’t “find” my device. Bluetooth either

Check that "all day sync" is turned off on the fitbit app on your phone.  That is a common problem after a firmware update.
If that doesn't solve the problem contact tech support.

Have you re-paired your Versa to your phone? Or is that what you are trying to do?
Sometimes turning the phone off and on again will help.

Mine simply won't sync unless I'm at home and I put it on my charger.  It will sync once while on the charge and when I wear it again the issues start again with it not syncing, losing time... simply not working as it should and what I paid for.. I've even done a factory reset and it took the whole of a day to get it to link back up.  I'm a week from it no longer being under warranty and I believe they are trying to make me wait until they don't have to replace it...

I would also like to go back to the previous version. Constant crashing and super short battery life since the update. And now my Versa will only show a battery symbol with 0%. I've charged it and tried doing the reset options and nothing is working. Super frustrating...

Hi everyone. I got yesterday a  versa 2 and after some issues (connecting to my honor 6x) to update it, I noticed that, after the successful update, every  time that I swipe up from the clock tile to go to the information about steps, the smartwatch restarts automatically. Is it a problem of the firmware? I got also the same connetivity issue

After the latest update, my batter is dying within a day. I even turn my phone off at night. I did fix the notification issue by repairing my phone with my Versa. Help!

I can't update my watch at all. It just says "searching". I did a factory reset; it took me 6 tries to even connect my watch to my phone. I can't even change the face of the watch because I haven't done the update, because it won't work!!!!! So frustrating. I used to love Fitbit; I'll never buy another Fitbit product again, that's for sure. This is just an expensive digital watch that doesn't do what it was advertised as doing.
