Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020
Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.
If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.
Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!
Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.
How to restart your watch:
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

I tried the steps described and got my Versa working for about a week with no issues. Yesterday it stopped working again and is back to not responding. I started to use some of the features again like tracking a bike workout. Have tried all the steps again but no luck so far. Very frustrating to have it continue to randomly stop working.
Thank you

I updated the classic versa and the battery is running out faster and when I turn off the clock and turn on a few hours later the clock is late, with the time I turned off. I also didn't like pushing the three buttons to turn the clock back on

So as much as I would love to read through all of these 20+ pages of issues to see an answer to mine, I don't want to. I updated my software and have since had the issue of my Versa continually restarting itself on its own. Numerous times a day. It is extremely irritating and draining on the battery. Just adds to my irritation since getting a new phone and my text notifications no longer coming in. I'll work on that later, if someone could manage to tell me how to fix the restarting issue that'd be lovely. Please don't tell me to restart it on my own. I did that. I have never had it just restart on its own ever and since this update it does it numerous times an hour.

@C_B9
Given the circumstances, I would recommend performing a factory reset, it’s your best bet sadly.

Thank you! After trying other combinations, this worked for my versa. 😉

I haven’t found this issue here, but let’s give it a try: Battery drain when powered off.
My wife and I both have Versas, both are using 4.1. Once a week, we go to Settings>About>Shut down and shut down our Versas.
Prior to this firmware update, waking up the Versa would return us to the same battery state we had when shutting down. Now, however, we wake up our Versas only to find them at 0% battery.
Since we’re both having the issue, and just since the firmware update, we think it’s what is to blame. Hope there’s a fix coming....

Hi ckuttner.
Many many folks have been reporting this exact issue in this thread. You may want to read back for suggestions from the moderators. (Although I don't think anyone has reported complete resolution yet.)

Regarding the battery drain; could the watches be misreporting rather than actually losing charge?

Is the factory reset working to completely fix these problems?
(I have the no syncing/very occasionally syncing after many resets (not factory reset)/ battery draining when not syncing/ incorrect time when not syncing issues)
I'm worried that a factory reset may make this a total dud, but if it's an OK fix to at least fix the syncing and time issue that would be great. Now that the time doesn't work, I'm not sure what to do!

In reading posts in this thread and other individual posts, some users have had success with doing a factory reset while others haven't.
The ones that haven't advised that they can't get their device to set up.
It's a gamble to see how your device will respond after the factory reset.

Now the worst has happened. After the third reset, the watch simply died, and will not charge or turn on. I accept suggestions to fix this. Or I like to know if is possible the refund or exchange.

Largely the same issue with mine. It is now absolutely useless as you can't even navigate to the settings menu to attempt a further reset.

I've already gone through every step and have chatted with your support team. They aggree it was a problem and simply said they'd be "logging" my case, but just as with here, I'm stuck with a non functioning watch and no estimate of a timeline for a resolution.

I'm not having the issues everyone else seems to be having. My only issue, which is still major, are my stats (calories, active minutes) not transferring over to the app correctly. I just synced and lost 500 calories (same crap every day). My steps seem to be alright for now, but this is a joke that there hasn't been an update to correct the issues that everyone has been experiencing. These are major issues. I'm pretty close to returning my Versa 2 to amazon and going with another company.

Same battery drain issue here...a full charge drains to zero in 6 hours. 2 year old orginal Versa with no prior issues. Charges would last me 4-5 days prior ro recent firmware update. Please fix. Watch is useless in this state.

Not at all sure how this can get fixed for devices that can't even power on anymore because of this update. Even though my Versa original is out of warranty I was able to speak with a supervisor and secure a replacement. I'm not confident the replacement won't have the same problem but at least that one will have a 30 day warranty on it.
