Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020
Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.
If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.
Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!
Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.
How to restart your watch:
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

It would likely be much quicker and easier for the Fitbit engineers to create an installer that allowed the users who have updated to reinstall the earlier firmware which didn't have all the bugs.
This of course would do nothing for the users whose watches have been bricked by the latest update and would do nothing to cure the heart rate problem.

If you're referring to my note above there's no guarantee they'll move in that direction. You get no marketing brownie points for going backwards even if it makes the failing product work. You just get to keep your customers and add new ones.

I’m having the same issue as @ckuttner

I have two of the issues reported in this thread since installing 70.7.1.14. 1) Repeated reboots of my versa. 2) (and worse) It will not sync with my phone. When I initiate the sync in the fitbit app from my phone it will tell me "no device found". I am wondering if the reboots are failed sync attempts throughout the day. I have the original pixel phone.

I also having this sync problem after the update. But what I discovered, is that you need to connect your Versa to your phone first before you connect to others Bluetooth device.
Once you done that, the sync will be fast.

Thank you to everyone, for taking the time to share your experience with the firmware update and for sharing the steps that you already tried on your watch. Welcome to all the new users in the Community as well.
@Luroc, this has been reported by other users and the team of developers is already working to find a solution for this. Thank you for sharing all this information and your patience with this.
@curt81, could you please provide a few more details about what you're experiencing. Does this happen every time you try to sync your information? In addition, please make sure to check if the mobile device you're using is listed here as compatible: Which phones and tablets can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?
@Sdevastator @SunsetRunner, thank you for sharing this information. Could you please confirm if you already tried to restart the watch and followed all the steps listed in this article for battery draining problems.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and that you'll be receiving a replacement soon @Evans5150.
Thank you for your feedback @Konaneil, for the moment there is not a safe way to return to a previous version of the firmware, but it could be a useful implementation for these instances. Thank you again for all your comments.
@Splunge861 @Kenca, let me know if you already tried to complete therestart procedure and if you've followed all the steps listed here to resolve syncing problems. Make sure to check if the mobile device you're using to sync is listed here as compatible as well.
Keep me posted.

@DavideFitbit yes, I have tried all the steps mentioned in this post, yet the watch still drains extremely fast. I have loved the watch for the past two years, but like I said, a charge suddenly only lasting 6 hours makes this watch unwearable.
Furthermore, I bought my wife a Versa Lite for Christmas which we are reluctant to open now in fears the watch will suffer the same fate as mine.
Do you advise a solution?

My Versa 2 can’t accurately tell my pulse, it’s showing it is way higher than it is. I talked to customer support and they mentioned an update will fix it. Is this the update that will fix it or is it unknown when that update will be? Have any of y’all had this problem?

I thought the update was supposed to fix that? I have the original and have been waiting for a fix for that.

It’s not listed in the notes on the first page which is why I asked. I’m curious if it’ll be in this update or the next.

Pulse or more commonly referred to as heart rate is a problem with every Versa. Many people don't notice it simply because they aren't aware of what their heart rate actually is.
There are several long threads regarding this problem going back nearly 2 years. If you search on "heart rate" you will find them.
Maybe DavideFitbit will comment?

The Versa 2 I gave my girlfriend for Christmas seems to be working with no issues, but mine is all packaged up and being shipped back to Amazon tomorrow. I'm just going to use my girlfriend's old Charge 3 for now, (which use to be mine lol) and also has the same problem as my Versa 2 (stats not syncing correctly), which means it's definitely not the hardware, which I figured.
Unless things change, I won't be buying another Fitbit product.

That’s very disappointing because it’s a major component of what I wanted. @DavideFitbit

I always knew it wasn’t really accurate with high intensity exercise. I didn’t know how badly it was off until I had open heart surgery and wore the Fitbit to cardiac rehab. I was hooked to an ekg machine while exercising and the Fitbit was as much as 20 beats off at times.

I’ve been checking my pulse and when resting it’s generally around 20 bpm too high. I understand it can’t be as accurate as a medical device, but I’d hope it’d be in the right ball park for us, especially when stationary.

Just got my Versa as a Christmas present, I want to onstall Spotify but it's saying I need to be on the latest version. I update the app on my iPhone 8 (ios13.3) to the latest version available in the app store (3.12.1) and the Versa says it's on the latest version (33.1.3.0). I've spent all morning looking into this and it appears I need to upgrade my OS to 4.0 but the fitbit app and the windows app along with the dashboard are all telling me I'm up to date since the versa upgraded itself in the initial setup. How do I get my wife and my versa to OS 4.0? I've followed all the instructions I can find.
