Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020
Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.
If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.
Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!
Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.
How to restart your watch:
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Hi DaSoyBean.
Upgrading your wife to OS 4.0 may be easier than getting her fitbit to work. There are plenty of online dating sites I could point you to if you like . 😉

Thank you for sharing this information @Favre2harvin, and welcome to the Community. That's that latest firmware version (70.7.14).
Excellent news @Splunge861, thank you for sharing.
I've proceeded to send your information to the Customer Support team for further assistance with this @Sdevastator, you should be getting a reply soon. Please keep an eye on your inbox.
@FireBlossom @lorraineg @Konaneil , I'm sorry to see that you've been having trouble with the accuracy of heart rate data. Before considering other options, I would recommend performing a restart and to follow all the instructions in this article to improve the accuracy of heart rate information: How to I improve the accuracy of my heart rate rate reading? This has been useful to other users who have experienced something similar.
In regards to the firmware update and the improvement for the heart rate feature that you mentioned, we haven't received updates about this for the moment. You can find more information about recent updates here as well: What's changed in the latest Fitbit OS update?
Thank you for sharing this information @curt81, I'm sorry to see that you had to return your product due to these inconveniences you experienced with your Versa 2. Thanks again for all the feedback.
I'm sorry to see that you've been having trouble to update your watch as well @DaSoyBean. Do you think it's possible that you may have seen the option to update the firmware during set up and you pressed Skip? If the watch is new, this option usually appears during the set up process.
If you're still not seeing the option to update, you can also try to complete a factory reset procedure following these steps. This is usually used as a last resource, but since your watch is brand new, you won't experience much trouble with personal settings, apps and other information being deleted.
Keep me posted.

DavideFitbit,
Thank you for the link to the help article. However, I've tried these suggestions long ago. In fact these have been known to the community at large for quite some time.
If you'd like to know more about the problem and how it is endemic to the product not just to a few watches please go to the following thread;
you'll see that this has been a problem with the product since it was released nearly 2 years ago.
Fitbit has many customers who would like this resolved. Can you give us any input on when it will be solved?

I saw the update banner for my versa, then the update failed and the banner disappeared and hasn't come back yet almost 24h later. And I've done all the trouble shooting but it doesn't show up in the app, neither on pc or phone app.

After updating my Versa about two weeks ago it does NOT hold battery life. It could be 100% battery then I'll shut it down while I'm at work and try to turn it on and it's 0%. Or if I put it on after charging it drains quickly. I've tried restarting it multiple times or leaving it charging longer and it makes no difference.

Since the update it seems mine is more sensitive and comes on when I barely move my arm. I even had to remove the agenda app because that wasn’t working at all even after uninstalling and reinstalling.

As soon as I did the firmware update it ruined my battery life to less than 20hrs for a versa 1. Before the update the battery life was 4-5 days.

After updating the software, the battery on my Versa 1 is so bad.
I charged it to 100% before I got to bed and shut it down to save battery. When I switch it on the next morning, the battery is down by 50% AND the time and date were not updated. This did not happen with the previous firmware. The idea of shutting it down was to save battery. Instead, it killed it by 50%. I've reset my Versa to factory settings and updated it again. Same problems. I totally regretted updating it and there's no turning back.

I guess Fitbit is in a self sabotaging mode. Apparently, they don't care about word if mouth and how customers who have gone with their competitors will say to stay clear of Fitbit devices.
You would think with all the issues previous firmware updates had the middle of last year and again in October that they would have taken that as opportunity to regain the trust of their users...their customer base and issue a firmware that works correctly not one with a plethora of issues. Total disregard to their users and not acceptable.
After reading all the posts that came through as soon as this firmware update was announced and pushed, I opted not to update and won't until Fitbit developers can provide a functional and bug free version.

@Rassid: I have not received an email with a fix or addressing the issues yet. Have you heard of others getting one?
I do know one person who had a firmware update TWO times in December.. so I think a fix is out there, but maybe not being rolled out to everyone yet? I don't know for sure because they won't confirm either way if the *NEW* firmware update to correct the *BAD* firmware update is out there. I wish we could just receive an update!
