Fitbit Update: 1/9/2020
Hey, Versa Smartwatches family!
I hope everyone is enjoying the start of the New Year. Before the holidays, we released this firmware out to 100%.
If you still don't see the update for Fitbit OS 4.1 (70.7.14) because it's brand new or perhaps was gifted to you for Christmas, please continue syncing the watch and make sure you have all-day sync turned on. You will soon after see the banner prompting you to update to this firmware.
Thanks for your patience and hope you continue enjoying this update!
Fitbit Update: 12/5
Hi, Versa Smartwatches family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1 (Firmware Version: 70.7.14).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
The update includes a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
Smart wake: Smart wake will gently begin to wake you with subtle vibrations during the optimal part of your sleep cycle (during light or REM) within a 30 minute window prior to your pre-set alarm. This allows you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Clock face switcher: You will now be able to store up to five clock faces right on your device and quickly change from one to the other using the new clock face switcher.
On-wrist Sleep Score: The score will now be available in the on-device dashboard that can be accessed by swiping up from the clock face. You can still see it alongside your sleep data within the Fitbit app after you sync.
Exercise app improvements: The redesigned Exercise app will now display all 20 workouts in a new streamlined list on your wrist.
Battery notification: When your battery is running low, a new feature will automatically disable notification vibrations and if on, the always-on display on Versa 2 to preserve your battery life.
Agenda app: A new Agenda app allows you to see your calendar right on your wrist.
For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa/Versa 2 can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa, Versa 2 or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.
How to restart your watch:
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

My advice, better don’t update first. The latest firmware had some issue.
the known problem is you cannot shut off your versa as it will drain your battery very fast.
i having this battery drain problem after I update to the latest firmware. Read this post, there are many people having this problem.

Fitbit moderator: Is there a new firmware update out there? I know someone who had one in early December and said she had one AGAIN a few days ago. Is there one coming and if so, for those of us who cannot sync, how will it happen? Please give an update with a timeline and next steps.

I updated my Versa a little over a week ago (before reading this thread), aaaaand I experienced the sudden super fast battery drain and eventual shut off. I read every post on this thread and tried every suggestion (holding down 2 or 3 buttons, disconnecting and re-syncing, factory reset, ect) and it still wouldn't turn on. I called support today, and long story short they're sending me a replacement. It was surprisingly quick; they asked for the serial number from the box, where I purchased it from (Costco), asked me to hold down the buttons again, and asked me to open the watch from the app (which I couldn't do because I disconnected it and it never synced again because it died). After being put on hold a few minutes so they could "report it" they came back on the line and said they were sending a replacement. Didn't even ask when I purchased it or if I had a receipt. Hopefully I have better luck with this next one.

Since the latest firmware upgrade, even i have started experiencing the issues in starting my versa watch. When i switched off my versa the battery was at 90%. The next day when i started my watch, the battery percentage dropped to 45%. On the day 2 when i switched off the watch for overnight it was at 30%, but when tried to switch it on next morning, the battery was at 0%. Dont know why the battery usage is behaving differently after the upgrade.
Also the versa watch now starts only if the back and bottom right button are pressed for 5-10 seconds. Earlier only a quick press of the back button would start the watch.
Please have these issues fixed ASAP, as it is getting frustrated especially with the battery. Kindly help!!!

Hi everyone. Thanks for staying in this thread and welcome to our new members.
I appreciate the feedback that some of you have shared with me. I understand how you feel about the difficulties experienced with your watches after this firmware update and be sure that our team reviews every comment posted in the forums as that helps us to evaluate our procedures and work on improvements that allows you fully take advantage of your watches.
@ShaneN30 and @Jas_Sweden, the firmware is still rolling out to all our users. While I don't have a time frame when this will be 100% completed, I'll update you once I have more details. In the meantime, sync your watches regularly and make sure to keep the Fitbit app up-to-date.
@PoloChrissy, to better understand what's happening with your watch, could you please share with me more details about its behavior? Also, provide me with any step that you've tried so far so we can work on this together.
@Luroc, thanks for your question. Currently I don't have further details about when a future firmware will be released or the improvements that will bring. However, I'd recommend to keep eye to the Versa family board where our team always post news and recent updates for our watches.
@BDHolmstedt, thanks for the information provided about the battery life on your Versa. Just to confirm, is your watch already running the latest update? If so, does the battery drains after shutting it off, or is it with normal usage. Your Versa's battery life is affected by several factors, specially with the features and how often they're used. As mentioned before, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't use them but just for you to take note of that. That said, let me recommend to restart your watch and change the clock face to one from Fitbit just to monitor its behavior. You can also take a look to this help article for more tips.
@vjmaneye, thanks for sharing your experience with our Support team and taking the time to troubleshoot your watch. I'm glad that you received help with your watch and our team will continue working on our watches to enhance your experience with them. If you need anything else don't hesitate to let me know.
@Rishi.Relwani, thanks for joining this thread and sharing detailed information about your Versa's behavior after the firmware update. Our team is aware that some watches are experienced issues with the battery life after shutting them off, as well that the three buttons need to be pressed to get the watch back on. They're currently investigating this situation to bring a solution to our members. I understand your frustration about this matter and be sure that I'll update you once I have more details.
I'll be around if you have any other question.

Hi, did the update when suggested by Fitbit now my Fitbit is not working.
Very upset that this is happening, took back to store I bought it at and they won’t do anything as it’s out of 12 month warranty, the watch is on 18 months old. You would think it would last longer than that.
Any suggestions on how to getting fixed?!? Or replaced by Fitbit please!!

For the past two days I've been tryin to download the Fitbit Versa 2 apps and has been impossible. Either my Galaxy S8+ read that the apps is down for maintenance or when I ask to Join it read that there is no network. This is very frutrating and disgusting. What is the problem? Someone on the internet is trying to help but nothing works. Cand the Fitbit people give a straight and truthful answer

Hi everyone. It's good to see you here and let me help you with your inquiry.
@MimsieD, thanks for your efforts in trying to fix it on your own. I understand your point of view about this situation and I'm sorry that you've had this experience. To work on this together could you please provide me with more details about what's not working on your watch? May I know what steps have you tried to get it working again prior posting? I'll look forward to your reply.
@PoloChrissy and @Jplosingit, I'm glad that your watches came back on after trying the restart process suggested in this thread. I appreciate your efforts and I'm sure others users will find your post very helpful. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to let me know.
@AndréanneL, thanks for bringing this to my attention as well for the screenshot provided. Let me help you to change the clock face on your watch. Before anything else, please verify that the Fitbit app is updated to the latest version. Once that is done, I'll need you to try the following steps:
@Hudor, thanks for letting me know about your Versa 2 not able to download apps. I understand your frustration with this process and appreciate every step tried prior posting. Your Samsung Galaxy S8+ has been confirmed to be compatible with the Fitbit app and to further investigate may I know if you receive those error messages with any app from the Fitbit App Gallery? Is your Versa 2 syncing correctly with your phone? If you've not done so, I'd recommend to try the steps described in our help article: How do I set up and troubleshoot apps on my Fitbit device? Keep me posted.
Keep adding your questions.

Hello LizzyFitbit.
Why does Fitbit not own up to it's mistakes? Obviously there has been a firmware programming mistake made that can't be undone. Just a quick look at posts here and in your app reviews is extremely telling. Why else would you continue to insist we try reinstalling our apps and checking settings ... Own up! Stop the update, provide new devices to those you have affected and cut your losses.
** Update.
Had a 40 minute 'chat' with mary at Fitbit tech support and she said that the notification issues we are having are indeed a Fitbit issue with their app. She said the device is not at fault but will, at some point when the issue is resolved, resume all previous functionality. I was also told to watch for an update. I then suggested that an emailed bulliten to all potentially affected users might go a long way towards retaining their good reputation and brand name. It might also be prudent for Fitbit to send us all an Email when the update is posted.

I asked the same question to Fitbit.com via Twitter about pulling the update until a fix was in place to correct the programming bugs. As you can see nothing has been done to stop this update.
I am one of the lucky ones who saw all these posts with all the issues users have been experiencing and are still experiencing and opted not to update to the new firmware as well also not updating to the new app as which is also causing issues as well as being reported on the Community Forum for the Android app and in the mobile app reviews.
I don't understand the Fitbit mentality of telling the users to keep the mobile app and firmware up-to-date when clearly both have some major programming issues. What's the point of having the updated versions of both the firmware and the mobile app if it renders the Versa unresponsive or not working as it should (advertised to work)?"
I understand that devices die and on it's on accord it's one thing but when the device becomes unresponsive and / or not working like before the updates or as advertised due to a programming mistake(s) issued by Fitbit that's not acceptable and a very irresponsible attitude to have towards it users.

In light of this botched firmware rollout, I will definitely not be updating my versa 1 LE. The Fitbit developer team would be better off pulling this OS from the network and servers. Especially considering the series of catastrophic failures it’s causing; this OS makes any iOS look like a masterpiece.
