Update: This has now released to 100%

We’re excited to announce that a firmware update for Versa, Versa 2, and Versa Lite will be available soon!  Some of you may already have this update available - if you installed it, let us know what you think!

If you don’t see the update yet, that’s expected. Check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We expect everyone to receive the update in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.

Did you know that we gradually release our updates? We do this to make sure everything is working just right for you. Sometimes we find an issue and it might take a little longer than expected for everyone to get the update. While you might see suggestions on how to “force” an update, we ask that you don’t try any of these workarounds. Most of the time the update won’t be available and you can lose data or encounter other difficulties. The best way to get the update is to be patient and wait for the update banner to appear in the Fitbit app.

No problems with this update, my Versa 2 is still doing okay, like it always did. Not sure what has changed....

I updated my Versa Lite day before yesterday and since then my screen has gone kaput , it is visible for a couple of seconds and dims out , battery also seems to be draining at 26% in less than 24 hours. When I contacted customer care It was recommended I replace my device !!!! This is extremely disappointing and not what I expected. I cannot help but wonder if these updates are meant to phase out devices that are out of warranty as this is the second time this has happened with a Fitbit device for me .

But STILL no indication of what the updates fix!  "Bug fixes and improvements" does not say what the update is fixing.  Which bugs were fixed??  What improvements were made??

The update appears to break specific features.  Why can't Fitbit specify what the updates do?

I saw the pink banner before and tried to update the tracker but the update failed a few times but now I don't see it anymore

I FINALLY fixed my Fitbit watch after the update killed my 2 week old Versa 2.

I just simply followed Fitbit's instruction:

step-by-step instructions for updating your Versa smartwatch here

Then it killed the watch.

I promptly went back to where I bought the watch.
And exchanged it.

Now everything is back to normal. 😀😎

Thanks Fitbit!!!!

Thank you . I followed all of these instructions and then called up the customer support as well. No resolution yet.

Hi - the release notes for the versa 2 are a tad opaque and vague? Is there any more detail? see below from the link to the release notes

  • My Versa was working fine until this update. Heart rate monitor is gone mad. I usually have a resting heartbeat of 60-65. It says 132 and I’m laying in bed. My active minutes have tripled and so has my calorie count for the day. It’s ridiculous. What good is it to have a gadget that doesn’t do its job???? Fitbit should fix this yesterday.

Like many others I am finding the HR very unreliable. It regularly tells me my heart rate is 210 bpm. Given my age is over40 this is pretty much impossible.

This is also happening to me. Replied earlier giving the details. Contacted Support and got the usual "do a factory reset". Didn't help. Will there be a new release to fix these problems?

None of this helps. Sounds like Fitbit is bricking old models.

I had a firmware update to my Versa Lite on Friday, from Saturday I started facing issues with the Fitbit screen going blank and then with a long press screen briefly appears for a couple of seconds. Device is syncing . I have done a factory reset , unpaired the device and changed the clock face - all solutions provided in the forums. Upon calling the customer care I have been told to replaced the device . I am disappointed with the solution as the issue is with the firmware update and not any damage that occurred at my hand . I strongly believe Fitbit should either provide a solution on how to make my device work or replace my device . This is also the second instance that a similar thing has happened with a Fitbit device . While I have absolutely loved the experience of using this device for a little over a year with the lack of customer support and issue resolution I would not invest further on future devices. Look forward to hear on either the solution or replacement.

I updated last night with WiFi with Fitbit fully charged. Today I have no connection with the screen. I see messages are coming through but I can’t read anything. Also no time is showing. I shut off my phone. Nothing changed. It is reading because my steps I can find on my phone. Please advise. Also my Fitbit  is only a few months old. Was perfectly fine yesterday before update.
Thank You

Karen

My heart rate monitor has been jacked up ever since this update. It’ll be at 55 while I’m walking around, and in the 100’s while I’m sitting. Physically checked my rate and the versa is definitely way off. Pretty lame Fitbit. Nice update.

I updated my Versa 2 and now the clock face is blank. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling it, choosing a different clock face, having it connected to the charger while trying to sync and nothing works. When I go to the clocks -> my device it shows the Fitbit with the word “switching” across the middle and a bar underneath with a red dot going back and forth. I’ve been trying for two days to get my clock face to come back.

Please help or let me know how to undo the update.

This is me! I tried with both Wifi and Bluetooth - my Versa 2 would not update. I checked and there was an app update (I'm on Android/Samsung Galaxy 20) and when I relaunched the app, the banner is missing and I can't get it back! I am still version 35.72.1.15. Please help!

- Update: You can find the firmware version by clicking on your pic/icon (upper left corner in the app). Then click on your Versa. The next screen show show you when you last synced as well as the firmware and the battery level.

I fixed mine.

I have versa lite.
No clock face after update.
Much distorted nonsense instead.

You might lose some of today’s data.

Goal is to have fully charged phone then plugged into computer (or other direct source wi-fi) to re-download the update, per directions from your phone in the sync window.

Before this, you might have have to reboot the bluetooth on your phone, unpair (“forget this device”) and re-pair. Reboot. Re-sync. I did this several times.

This re-download could take an hour or much more, but there is a visual to help monitor. Must keep phone with device with app open. (I closed mine inadvertently, but was able to resume.)

Good luck!

Honestly, after what I've read in this thread, I am not sure I want to apply the update! My Versa 2 has already been replaced once (when it suddently stopped syncing for no reason) - that was under warranty. I don't know if I got a NEW warranty when I got the new Fitbit or not. I cannot afford a new smartwatch at the moment. If the update kills them and then Fitbit says buy a new one as the fix, that is hardly ethical. If the firmware update pops up again, I'll make a decision...
