Fitbit Pay removed my credit card

Fitbit Pay removed my Capital One Visa card. Their digital certificate had expired. They advised me to add the card back on but now the error message says the card is not supported by Fitbit. However Capital One credit is shown on approved card list. What can be done to fix this? Previously I used this same card on Fitbit Pay for 1 1/2 years!

Same exact issue (and card/bank) with my Versa 3. Let me know if there is a correction/fix.

I’m having the same issue adding my Capital One card back onto my Versa 1. Used this card successfully for years and now it says it’s not supported. Very frustrating.

I tried these recommended steps:

Restart your Versa 3 and phone.

Restart Bluetooth on the phone.

Force quit the Fitbit app.

Try adding your card

But AFTER accepting the Capitol One T&C's for contactless payment, FitBit still comes back with "Error - your bank is not accepted, click below to see the list".  Of course, Capitol One is on the list...and this card was working before.  Seems like they got dropped. [Update: Actually, Capital One stopped authorizing credit cards for contactless payments directly with Fitbits. Guessing this is because they partner with Google Pay. But it appears that a lot of devises don't support GP.]

BTW, how is it possible that Citi is NOT on their list of supported banks?  Luckily, my Chase works.

I think you should contact Capital One for help.  It’s possible that they stopped supporting Fitbit Pay when the certificate expired and they only support Google Pay.  Just a thought.

My Fitbit pay was denied earlier in the week. That night I contacted Fitbit support chat. They had me remove my visa from Fitbit pay. I couldn't add it back. I went down a Rabbit hole and wound up turning off Fitbit pay on my web dashboard. Now I can't connect my Versa 2 to Fitbit pay to even try adding a card back.

The following day, I got an e-mail from Fitbit saying the Visa digital credentials were expiring and my card would be removed automatically on or after January 11th. Do not remove the card manually. After the card is removed automatically, you should be able to add it back.

So they sent me an e-mail not to remove the card, a day after pay was denied and support told me to remove the card.

I contacted support again, and was told they'd follow up within a day or two by e-mail. Been about 5 days now and nothing. Second time recently that support said they'd follow up by e-mail and didn't.

Capital One told me today that they stopped allowing new card to be auth'd on Fitbit. Existing cards already setup will work until the "certificate" expires, but no more new cards!   Must be a conflict with Google, but the rep wouldn't admit it.

Fitbit: Please update your accepted bank list.

@Jlr5070 Thanks for the update. I was using Chase and they're still on the list I found? I'm guessing I'll eventually have to try a factory reset if I want pay bad enough. I get a 403 error just trying to pull up pay.

I did contact Fitbit yesterday. The customer service rep wanted me to do a factory reset. When I asked her if this would erase all the data on my dashboard, she stammered around until finally saying “probably”. Not an option for me.
Just another instance that I’ve not been happy since Goggle took over. Unfortunately they are forcing our family to switch to Apple watch

@bammer714 Your Data is stored on the server. If you sync right before resetting, you don't lose any Data. You just lose settings on the watch, as well as there is some risk involved as there were complaints of bricked devices upon resetting. I never had a problem resetting mine.

Depending on what model you have, like I have a Versa 2. Zone minutes and active minutes would get messed up for a couple days after a reset, because you need the firmware update that takes a few days to get zone minutes on a Versa 2. But everything is stored on the server.

Thanks for the info.

Do you think the factory reset will solve my problem of not being able to add my Capital One credit card on Fitbit pay?

@bammer714 You're welcome.

A few posts up, @Jlr5070 stated they were told by Capital One that Their card can no longer be added. So I guess there's no point in a factory reset anyway, unless you can't get any cards to work.

I'm dealing with Chase myself.

1/13/24 - Capital One 2nd-level support ctr told me that they stopped allowing new card to be auth'd on Fitbit in kate December. Existing cards already setup will work until the "certificate" expires, but no more new cards can be setup!   Must be a conflict with Fitbit now owned by Google, but the rep wouldn't admit it.

To Fitbit support: Please update your compatible bank list and don't be so vague in your tech support responses to this issue. Capital One is no longer a valid credit card partner for contactless payments. Sad that Goolgle is forcing this transition to Google Wallet when few devices support that.

Thanks for the update.
Since Goggle acquired Fitbit, I have been unhappy with their “enhancements”. Unfortunately it has convinced me and my family members to “update” to Apple Watch.

Thanks Mark. I overlooked/missed Chase Bank when I looked at the list.  I was just able to add my Chase card successfully.

Thanks for the updates everyone. Looks like I’ll be switching to an Apple Watch. I’ve been disappointed with all the recent changes as well and now that NONE of my credit cards are compatible, it’s definitely the last straw for me.
