Fitbit Pebble on eBay, "unknown color" and "shipped by Fitbit", how is it possible?

Search eBay for Fitbit Versa Pebble, Fitbit Versa Only ("only", meaning tracker only), and similar terms.

Each seller has many in stock, but they don't know which color you will get.

One of the listings gives some clues on where it may be coming from:

• "New Replacement tracker from Fitbit"
• "Tracker only no band or accessories. (sometimes fitbit will include these but i cannot guarantee it)"
• "These are coming directly from Fitbit so i cannot always guarantee what color i have in stock please message me after buying which color you prefer."

It seems they are contacting support or getting help from someone in support, asking for a specific color.

You can find the same issue with other trackers, Versa goes for $90, Ionic $87, Charge 2, etc. It is rampant and has been going on for awhile, so it must be a structural issue within customer support.

Each listing usually is for about 10. (Once sold, they relist with more.) The listing I am quoting from, 163307668597, has a quantity of 50.

Is it someone from customer support sending a tracker to random people based on eBay seller requests, and receiving a cut of the selling price?

If people do buy them they are fools as Ebay is not covered under warranty.

Economically, at less than half the price, if less than 50% are defective after return / credit card charge back period (whichever is greater), it makes sense to buy them. Credit card return period is 60 days and Fitbit warranty is 360 days, so half need to go defective within those 10 months. I need a couple of Versas but not buying from these sellers because I believe they are stolen, they somehow get the company to ship them perhaps as warranty replacement. I got a pebble before to replace Charge 2, they trusted me and never asked me to send the original back; however if there is more fraud, it makes it harder for us to have trackers replaced and it also cost the company money, cost of replacement trackers + loss sales (as they would have bought it from company) + loss of customer goodwill. Previously I brought up a particular type of fraudulent sales on ebay and those are gone. This is more rampant and costly.
