Fitbit Syncing Error: connect to the internet to view historical data

I am receiving an error when trying to sync my Fitbit Versa when my iphone 8+ is on wifi. I get the error in red at the top of the screen "Connect to the internet to view historical data" and my fitbit will not sync. Additionally, I try to connect my fitbit to wifi and that is not working. My fitbit only syncs when my phone is using Data (which is very inconvenient as I don't have much phone data) instead of wifi. I have tried restarting my phone, restarting the app, and toggling between wifi and my phone data. Please advise on how to fix this issue

The banner warning is simply to notify you that your mobile device is not presently connected to wifi so historical data can't be reviewed until an internet connection is established with the mobile. As far as the bluetooth connection between your tracker and mobile, all good. Current stats are being transferred to the cache of your mobile for later train data upload to the servers once wifi has been reestablished.

Before you go through the effort of troubleshooting that wifi station you might just try closing the App and then reopening it to reestablish a solid connection; if all good, no problem. Otherwise check that wifi station if it only happens at one place, it may be intermittent (broadcasting, but not "always" connected to the internet), the warning will alert you during the off cycles.

It’s silly because when I checked the settings it shows it was connected to my WiFi ... I did have to shut off my phone and when I turned it back on the message was gone... the mysteries of the internet... LOL

Thanks

just in case others are having this problem

I realized I was getting this message because my phone was actually connected to the WiFi of our Printer and not our Router, so the app could indeed NOT sync. I had to "forget this network" and make sure I was connected to our home / private wifi connection and then it worked... bit annoying
